The New Orleans City Council Friday denounced the targeted antisemitic attack on one of its staff members after the front of their home and an Israeli flag hanging on it

Similar happened to an acquaintance of mine’s son who also lives in NOLA. He flew an Israeli flag and someone spray painted Free Palestine on his garage.
I got out the world’s smallest violin for that.

Maybe the staff member should not openly support a genocidal nation by flying their flag. 🤷

Could you point out the country that hasn’t committed genocide?
It’s governments that commit atrocities in the name of the people, it isn’t the people, and it certainly isn’t some dude on a city council in another country.

Even if we take your point for granted (which we shouldn’t) this man is raising the flag of a country currently committing genocide. That’d be like raising the Nazi flag during the 40s (or any time period really); it’s just socially acceptable for some godforsaken reason.

Ok, so when was the last time someone was stabbed over a Nazi flag?
What is happening in Gaza is a travesty, and indeed the government of Israel is (over) reacting to an unprecedented terrorist attack by attacking civilians.
But neither the man, nor his flag are in Israel or Palestine, the dude is in the US where extremists of every type are just itching to use any excuse to commit violent acts, especially against the latest group in the spotlight (Jews are the current fad, outshines Muslims for the moment).
Instead of condoning more violence, put your efforts into ending the violence.

I never defended stabbing people over raising the Israeli flag. The person in the article is mad someone put some paint on a small part of their home. Their safety wasn’t threatened in any way. Also making it clear Zionism is not okay does contribute to ending the violence. Israel’s genocide (and more general ethnic cleansing project) lives and dies by Western public goodwill.

maybe they should have just torn the house down, built a new one on the land, and insisted it’s theirs forever?

From an Old Testament perspective, this could be seen as the ultimate kindness.
what does that mean?

During one of the plagues in Egypt, only the families with blood on their doorposts were spared by God.
yes, the angel of death passed over their homes. but how is an antisemitic attack, splashing blood or blood like substance over a jewish home, which was meant to terrorize them, coan be seen as the ultimate kindness? to invert the passover story when a jewish family is attacked by cowards is perverse and disgusting.
