I feel like I should write a report on satirical news sources becoming accurate. I’d be willing to bet that they are - completely by accident - more factual than, say, the Daily Mail or Fox News.

this article from The Onion, Fuck Everything, We’re Doing Five Blades, famously predicted Gillette’s 5-blade razor by less than a year and is one of my favorite articles. IIRC, they won a Pulitzer for it.

the inherent irony here is that conservatives like the communism when trump does it, but not when biden/harris does it.
They were perfectly fine with trumps i think unilateral tariffs on basically all imports. But biden introduces a 100% tariff on chinese EVs and i immediately see cons talking about how chinese EVs are cheaper.
Also, i don’t know why any of them genuinely believe that the president has any control over the economy, it’s such a stupid concept, it can disproved with one question. Why has the economy EVER struggled if the president controls it?

The alt right/populists turned politics basically into a game of us vs them where you associate with “your” party like you would with a sports team. If you say something against “their” party, they take it personally just like saying something bad about their favourite sports team. If “their” party screws up they are way more lenient, like they would be if their favourite does a foul. They win and lose with “their” party and make their personal success dependent on it. That might not be rational but it’s normal behaviour for human to associate with groups like that. It just shouldn’t happen with politicians and political parties.

yeah its pretty much something of this sort. The human psychology is an interesting one, but what’s even more interesting is somehow preventing this sort of behavior from cropping up within the party because this is where fascism breeds. And if you let it fester for too long, you get really bad shit.
