unalivejoy ( @joyjoy@lemm.ee ) English26•4 months agoUnmentioned is first class vertical tabs. It’s still experimental, so you have to enable it via about:config. Set
sidebar.verticalTabs
to true. noodlejetski ( @noodlejetski@lemm.ee ) 8•4 months agoIt’s still experimental
and it’s been that way for the past few versions, which is probably why they don’t mention it in the changelog just yet
dingdongitsabear ( @dingdongitsabear@lemmy.ml ) 3•4 months agoanyone have expand-on-hover thingy to recommend? can’t close an item in the sidebar with minimal clicking.
unalivejoy ( @joyjoy@lemm.ee ) English3•4 months agoI use middle click to close tabs.
dingdongitsabear ( @dingdongitsabear@lemmy.ml ) 3•4 months agocheck out the big brains on @joyjoy@lemm.ee! works, thanks!
ditty ( @dditty@lemm.ee ) English1•4 months agoDo you just mean an easy way to close tabs accessed via the vertical sidebar? I’ve been using this custom FF theme which has an option for a close tabs button alongside tabs when you hover over them. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + W to close the current tab
thingsiplay ( @thingsiplay@beehaw.org ) 14•4 months ago“Firefox now has a new anti-tracking feature, Bounce Tracking Protection”: Nice! This is why I use Firefox.
However the integration of tabs in the sidebar takes much longer than I thought would be. Well I guess its ready when its ready. Does anybody use this feature “Picture-in-Picture: auto-open on tab switch”? I had it enabled for testing, but it was totally annoying.
Steve ( @Steve@communick.news ) English8•4 months agoPicture-in-Picture: auto-open on tab switch is totally annoying.
I also tested it once, and turned it back off immediately. thingsiplay ( @thingsiplay@beehaw.org ) 9•4 months agoSome suggestion to make it more useful:
Its also missing some optional settings, such as if it should apply to say embedded videos from third party sites (like YouTube player in a blog post). And an option to enable that functionality for certain websites only. And if the tab should be opened up automatically only when a video is currently playing or always.
astro_ray ( @astro_ray@piefed.social ) English5•4 months agoEmbedded videos are particularly annoying.
Steve ( @Steve@communick.news ) English3•4 months agoNope. I wouldn’t nitpick this situation or that.
That one time I tried it, I realized that when I click away from the tab I don’t care if see the video anymore. Listening to the audio is all I want in that moment.

daq ( @daq@lemmy.sdf.org ) 1•4 months agoI wished they published more detailed info on how to hook up new ML assistant for looking up highlighted text. I tried seeing it up with existing Ollama set up and couldn’t figure it out.
Which Api calls is it making exactly?
I feel they tried to make it too simple with the llama file. There are a ton of existing options people already have set up.
I don’t see any mention of an ML assistant?
daq ( @daq@lemmy.sdf.org ) 1•4 months agoThis feature came out several versions ago. I was just complaining.
