edric ( @scytale@lemm.ee ) English35•4 months agoWill it be free shipping since it’s over $35? And will they honor 30-day returns?
TheButtonJustSpins ( @TheButtonJustSpins@infosec.pub ) English23•4 months agoWait till you get a whole pallet of Hyundais when you only ordered one…

linux2647 ( @linux2647@lemmy.sdf.org ) 34•4 months agoJust wait until you see cars from “brands” like Tisosh, Frauej, and ZXCVBNM

lemmyng ( @lemmyng@lemmy.ca ) English11•4 months agoAre they going to be binning those too?
Sundial ( @Sundial@lemm.ee ) 10•4 months agoFear not—there’s no one-click option, so no one should be in any danger of absent-mindedly buying a brand-new Palisade.
Well that’s reassuring. I was getting worried. I honestly hate when that happens.
Vodulas [they/them] ( @Vodulas@beehaw.org ) 5•4 months agolol, I looked at the cheapest Ioniq 5 in my area on Amazon and at the dealer’s website. $8500 cheaper directly from the dealer since they offer $7500 off for using their preferred lender. $1000 cheaper if you don’t use their lender
superkret ( @superkret@feddit.org ) 8•4 months agoYes, but do you actually get that cheaper price when you walk into the dealership? Or is that just the bait they dangle in front of you to get you there so they can play their pricing games with you?
Vodulas [they/them] ( @Vodulas@beehaw.org ) 4•4 months agoHard to say without going in, but the list price is still $1000 less.
lnxtx (xe/xem/xyr) ( @lnxtx@feddit.nl ) English4•4 months agoHow “big” is this news in the US? Non-US lemmy here.
jevans ⁂ ( @thejevans@lemmy.ml ) 11•4 months agoThis is the first I’m hearing about it. I don’t know why anyone would be excited about this.
i_am_not_a_robot ( @i_am_not_a_robot@discuss.tchncs.de ) English12•4 months agoDoes this mean I won’t need to go to a dealership, play games to get a fair price, have the dealer’s branding permanently affixed to my car, and be constantly hounded by the dealership to buy more things from them?
But if it means the car is going to come with mandatory Alexa I’m out.
SpikesOtherDog ( @SpikesOtherDog@ani.social ) 6•4 months agoGiven the Kindle Fire, ads will stream to the occupants if nothing is playing over the audio system. There would be no way to install a third party sound system because it is also the computer.
circuitfarmer ( @circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org ) 5•4 months agoIf you go to the Hyundai Shop on amazon, it basically just gives you a list of local dealers and their listed financing price. If you click “begin purchase”, it just figures out if you want to finance it or pay in cash.
So I guess – yes? You at least don’t have to play games, though I suspect the pricing is higher versus at the dealership directly.
Celestus ( @Celestus@lemm.ee ) English4•4 months agoNo, my understanding of this is that Amazon is just a storefront for dealers. Your entire transaction will be with the dealer, because Amazon is not allowed to sell new cars
Chahk ( @chahk@beehaw.org ) 1•4 months agoThey will probably ship each one in a giant container-shaped box.
Pete Hahnloser ( @Powderhorn@beehaw.org ) 1•4 months agoThe list of cities where this is available simply reaffirms the AP’s take on dateline cities. It’s a useful list for geography buffs but incompetent at suggesting the scale of operations for anyone else.
Vodulas [they/them] ( @Vodulas@beehaw.org ) 1•4 months agoI would be very surprised if that is why Amazon chose those cities. Having worked there, they would have pulled demographic data to see how many new cars are sold each year and released in the highest volume cities with dealers willing to work with them.
