HoolaBoola ( @HoolaBoola@beehaw.org ) 4•2 years agoJust remember, as you age, going all NIMBY on new housing developments is cringe.

FIash Mob #5678 ( @FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org ) 2•1 month agoThis is a straight motherfucker move for sure.
Thing is, the people who can actually make change on affordable housing, Democrats and Republicans, also oppose it, and 99% of voters pull the lever for these two every election.
So, it seems to me that clutching your pearls when you see this headline is a little hypocritical.
Thann ( @Thann@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoI think that the title is misleading, because the plan was to make a huge housing development with a tiny part of land being donated to make affordable housing…
alyaza [they/she] ( @alyaza@beehaw.org ) 4•2 years agoas far as i know, the alternative plan–and the one which seems to be going forward now–for development is one with no affordable housing as opposed to the 20 to 30 units which were expected, and these are the only two plans in serious consideration
Do you have a suggestion for a better title? Happy to edit 😄
Thann ( @Thann@lemmy.ml ) 2•2 years agoHonestly IDK, I’m mostly suggesting it may be misleading because we don’t know the full story, and it may be getting sensationalized.
By the time you had posted this comment chain it had hit almost every major news outlet and the reported story was the same. While you are right to question twitter, I checked for news stories on this as well as for explanations and decided it was trustworthy enough to post with the title I gave it knowing that there was a small chance it would need to be edited in the future.
