I’m the human of a cat named Piccolo, because when he was a kitten, he meowed like a little flute.

iamanurd ( @iamanurd@midwest.social ) English4•1 month agoI named my gerbil Smith because it’s my mother’s maiden name. Let me introduce you to my rabbit, 329-06-2789. I named him that so I wouldn’t forget my social security number.
Krik ( @Krik@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 1•1 month agoAre there any services left that feature a security question? I thought that all died out years ago when 2FA was introduced.
witty_username ( @witty_username@feddit.nl ) 10•1 month agoAnd what happens to be the story behind your mother’s maiden name?
stray ( @stray@pawb.social ) 2•1 month agoDo you have any fun mnemonics for remembering your SSN? :D
confuser ( @confuser@lemmy.zip ) 6•1 month ago tetris11 ( @tetris11@lemmy.ml ) 5•1 month agoWe don’t have pets but our neighbour has two cats and they are the bane of my existence. Yowling at the door even though we’ve never fed the little bastards, and scaring the birds away as they like to shake the branches of our tree.
As a result, we call the grey one “that little shit”, and the dotted one “that little cunt”. The names have stuck in our household, and we have to watch ourselves when we trade pleasantries with the neighbours.

Shimitar ( @Shimitar@downonthestreet.eu ) English2•1 month agoAaaaaaand…
Yes we have yet a other dog, the oldest one, 12yo. She come from the shelter her name is Giada (Jade). We never changed it. Funny how that’s also a commonish human name and has been hilarious sometimes in the past in crowded places…
ZeroHora ( @ZeroHora@lemmy.ml ) English2•1 month agoCora, she is a white cat with a black heart shapped mark on her side, if was male the name would be Corazon(One Piece)
Shimitar ( @Shimitar@downonthestreet.eu ) English2•1 month agoI don’t have a pet name, only an human name…
HexPat ( @HexPat@lemm.ee ) English2•1 month agoI wonder if this makes sense to anybody else? We have a black and white, German Wirehaired Pointer. His full name is: Spruce Creek Livewire Ace of Spades. We call him Lemmy.
Alice ( @Alice@beehaw.org ) 2•1 month agoI don’t actually know! Her microchip says her name is Shirley, but I tried two phone numbers and a physical address and never got in touch with her previous owner. I had been workshopping names for a while but I figure she prefers that one, so she’s still Shirley.
iamanurd ( @iamanurd@midwest.social ) English2•1 month agoI found Pliny frozen in my garage at like maybe 2 weeks old. (Door had blown open somehow) Thought he was dead until he moved his eye right as I was tossing him in a trash can. Had to bottle feed him and he was super sick, so I didn’t think he’d make it. Didn’t name him, just called him Tiny. Once he recovered and it was clear that he owned me, I started calling him Pliny because it sounded kind of like Tiny and was a beer that I really enjoyed at the time. He’s still super small 12 years later, so I think he was left behind because he was the runt. Or being frozen stunted his growth.
Taco Bob is named Taco Bob because we were drunk.

SocialMediaRefugee ( @SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.ml ) 1•1 month agoAdopted our furball from a foster family after their original owners couldn’t keep him. We liked the name and kept it.
Krik ( @Krik@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 1•1 month agoThe breeder of my dog gave him the name Timber vom Uckersee (Timber of Ucker lake). Yes, he was considered a noble because the breeder made sure to keep the blood line clean and that the dog showed all the features that defines this particular breed.
The Ucker lake is a lake nearby. The dog was part of the 20th litter of the breeder that’s why all the offspring got names starting with a t, the 20th letter of the alphabet. We usually called our dog just Timmi (or Timmy for English speakers). He was a cocker spaniel with red fur and lived to an age of 14.5 years. A good age for that breed (13-15 years life expectancy). Unfortunately we had to put him down. He had a disease that reduced the blood’s ability to transport oxygen. By the time we discovered it all his inner organs were too damaged for him to continue living without serious disabilities.
He looked similar to this one (tap to see).
Now that I remember him I feel sad that I lost him.
Shimitar ( @Shimitar@downonthestreet.eu ) English1•1 month agoNow, I should have done one post I guess.
We also have a other dog… We got her as an adult which had to be taken away from her previous home. She is called Bianca, guess by the looks of her being similar to the other famous Bianca.
We call her BB (beebee) short for Bella Bianca.
Shimitar ( @Shimitar@downonthestreet.eu ) English1•1 month agoWe have a dog which was called Betohven from the shelter. We called him Mozart, since it feels more… Manageable … YKWIM
