I just bought a cool new sweater but once again I’m afraid to wear it because it’s an off-white colour that will stain very easily 😅
WeirdGoesPro ( @WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 8•1 month agoClothes are meant to be used. One day, my whites will get stained, and that’s ok. I will buy new ones in the future. So mote it be.

Only if you’re not the one doing the frigging washing and ironing.
Gabadabs ( @Gabadabs@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 1•1 month agoAs if everyone is actually ironing their clothes…

Dark colors: better for stains, worse for avoiding mosquitos
Light colors: worse for stains, better for avoiding mosquitos
Diddlydee ( @Diddlydee@feddit.uk ) English4•1 month agoSomeone doesn’t have young kids. I’m resigned to the fact that clothes of any colour will get stained or ripped or damaged in some way.
ℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠 ( @Nemo@midwest.social ) 4•1 month agoIt’s not paranoia, I put on a white shirt two hours ago and it’s already stained.
deadcatbounce ( @deadcatbounce@reddthat.com ) 3•1 month agoThe (apparent but elusive) hole in my bottom lip and Spaghetti Bolognese are the primary cause for my disquiet.
Context: am old fart from the time of white work shirts and still like white or pale colours today. Wtf are dark suits and dark shirts about? That’s clubbing clobber.

Soapbox1858 ( @Soapbox1858@lemm.ee ) English3•1 month agoYes. I don’t really buy white clothing for that reason. I also don’t like black clothing because of lint showing up so easily. Plus it gets really hot where I live. Wearing black out in the sun is just extra miserable.
alykanas ( @alykanas@slrpnk.net ) English2•1 month agoYep. I basically wear rags around the house for this reason.
ocean ( @ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com ) English2•1 month agoIf you don’t dry your clothes you won’t have this issue
Badabinski ( @Badabinski@kbin.earth ) 4•1 month agoMy dryer broke like 6 years ago, and I just never cared enough to fix it. You can definitely still get permanent stains on line-dried clothes, but I’ll grant that it’s much harder without all the heat. I have one white cotton T-shirt that I’ve been going Ahab on for fucking months. It wasn’t even expensive, I just want to see if I can get the trifecta of mustard/ketchup/fucked up molybdenum disulfide grease stains out.
Jo Miran ( @JoMiran@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 month agoI’ve dressed in nothing but dark colors since the 1980’s and worn black underwear since they became readily available to me (early 90’s?).
I snowboard in very bright colors though. Being rescued takes priority over looking clean.
000999 ( @000999@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 1•1 month agoSurely snowboarding in white clothing isn’t ideal for being rescued
Jo Miran ( @JoMiran@lemmy.ml ) 1•1 month ago“bright colors”
White doesn’t work for obvious reasons but other colors found in nature can make you blend in.
communism ( @communism@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 month agoNo. I’ve noticed that I shouldn’t cook or eat red food with a white top but I bought an apron for that reason. Outside of cooking and eating, I’ve not had any problems with stains.
Also stains are not a huge deal. I only get rid of clothes if they are completely falling apart and not fixable with a sewing machine.
Sir_Kevin ( @Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English2•1 month agoWouldn’t want to embarass yourself
IttihadChe ( @IttihadChe@lemmy.ml ) English1•1 month agoOnly mildly. Some which I especially like I’ll save for special occasions, but I’m not scared of just wearing a stained shirt to work/the store because clothes are made to be worn and life happens while you’re wearing them and other people know that.

I don’t like wearing light colors anyways, especially white. I will wear other colors, yes, but nothing too bright.
