The 10’s come up IRL, as does that we’re in the 20s. People have been confused when someone is actually talking about the 1920’s. So, I’d say we’re good there.
'Noughts or “the first decade of this century” are also around. The 2000’s seems to work fairly reliably, but like you said they still might interpret it as the century, and it’s just a mouthful.

I’ve heard either “the aughts” or just “the two thousands” although that one isn’t as clear.
