Buckethead - Pike 038 - It Smells Like Frogs [Rock/Metal Instrumental]

A thirty-one and a half minute mostly hard rock blitz with hints of metal and a few moments of experimental. The first six tracks are the multiple part song ‘Gold Dragon’ with the title track dropping seventh.

Gold Dragon is just awesome and definitely one of his better endeavors. It truly steals the show. Lots of creative arrangements that make each part stand out. The final track gets a bit more chaotic and has no one sound to really call it’s own. It instead has numerous cool sounding yet fleeting moments that you’ll hear, you’ll perhaps like, then never hear again.

If there is a downside to listening to Bucket, it’s when he nails a hauntingly great sound but doesn’t pursue it. I can think of at least a dozen tracks that, for five seconds, empty my head and make every hair I have stand on end. I become stupefied like a giant firby and then -poof- it’s gone.
