I think sunfish are basically full of fart gases to help them float so it’d be like letting off a chemical weapon.
Orcas are such assholes, but in the best way possible.
Exploding is a quick and probably mostly painless death.

The original article said that the sun fish was already dead, and exploding it is probably a way to create bite size pieces for the juvenile orcas.
