Microsoft is retroactively removing documentation from its website and materials that mention 32 GB of RAM as a recommendation for new PC builds or purchases. Instead, the company is now emphasizing 8 GB devices that are optimized to run Windows 11 smoothly, even with that RAM configuration....

Yeah, the ram requirement is the reason that adoption of 11 is so piss poor. Keep telling yourself that, msft execs.

Not sure of the numbers off the top of my head. I just know that msft has been unhappy with the numbers and have been ratcheting up their attempts to move users over, with this being their newest move. I feel that the raw numbers don’t tell the whole story quite as well as msfts actions do.

Weird how it absolutely devours 11-12 GB of RAM, and yet they want to try to say it only needs 8 now.

The apps that are running all day every day on my work laptop have a steady-state consumption of around 26GB.

I’d say 11 sounds about right for freshly booted and doing nothing at all, I guess they don’t care if you can’t actually do anything with the computer but technically it’s enough to turn it on.
