It is mass media that has made people talk similar. It used to be every county, in the UK and US, would have a distinct accent.
Since mass media, only the regions that want to keep their accents have them.

There are many British accents, you will have to be more specific. Personally, I find the Yorkshire one rather charming. However, that is the opinion of someone from the DEEP Ottawa Valley.

idk, I always crack up when I hear a tiny Brit speak

Some might have a strong accent, at least it’s not as bad as how much Americans rapes the English language. I mean, they can’t even say aluminium properly.
