a bit stressed with the amount of upcoming responsibilities next month (new job, new pet, old pet having health problems, gf having health problems), but hoping I’ll manage

Its been a week. Writing a little behind for Substack, got a creative nonfiction piece accepted into the regional writers magazine, dog ate the carpet and shart it. No one prepares you for wooly carpet poop. Nobody.

Weight training is going well. Hitting new PRs (425# sled pull, 315# deadlift…and I thought I’d use KG in Canada. Sad.).

Trying to coordinate a trash pickup so I can pickup the enormous amount of trash in and around our community. Sad of seeing it, sad of people not caring. I will thus fix it for personal and environmental satisfaction.

All in all, not bad. Not great. Right in the middle.

So this has happened three times in the past half hour or so.

Our house is still being worked on, but hopefully it will be wrapped by the end of the month (press X, or some such). One of the new bedroom floors was finished so we were finally able to change the scenery if not the fact that all of us are still sleeping in one room. But moving everyone out of the room we had been sleeping in allowed me to rip out the old carpet, fix the subfloor, and put down the flooring I had saved during demo so at least my wife now has an honest-to-goodness home office for her wfh days. Code enforcement is coming tomorrow for our “final inspection” but I don’t know how that will go since the plumber didn’t bother to show up today to finish his work.

We’re so behind schedule on the renovation that I’ve been doing the things we’re ostensibly paying people to do just to get things finished, but I’m unsure how claiming hourly trade wages against what we still owe for work is supposed to go. Seriously, I’ve done so much trade work that I haven’t been to my markets (where I make my income) in over a month.

At least my wife’s new office looks nice

Honestly, pretty fucking terrible, but I suppose that’s the way pendulums work. I took out a loan last month, maxing out my credit line, so that my ex-wife could make a car payment. The radiator died a couple of weeks later, and now she’s saying she won’t pay me back because I paid for something that doesn’t work.

So, in two days, that loan is due, and I am fucked.

Unrelated, my mom is now pissed off with me for calling her out on the fact that she’s turned the Arizona trip to scatter my dad’s ashes into some sort of social excursion featuring four days in Tucson. I don’t want to be in Arizona in the first place, and I hope to hell this is the last time I have to visit. But more specifically, I dislike Tucson even more than Phoenix, which was supposed to be the main event, as that’s where I grew up. I’m just this side of telling her that if she wants to make this a vacation instead of a final necessary act, she can do it her damn self.
