First post, so go easy on me, but I’m wondering if there is any call in this community for a Glock compensator that doesn’t suck. By that, I mean on that isn’t overly huge, but still will work with PLA plus. If so, I could probably offer up a design Iade for myself so I could put something on the end of my invader V2.

You might need to define a few of those words. Squirted glock? Compensator? PLA? Lade? Invader v2? I don’t even know what your picture is meant to be of!
I might be able to translate based on my experience in 3D printing. I do not have a guns, though, which is what this appears to be about.
Glock is a gun manufacturer. Invader v2 is probably a specific model.
Squirted seems to be a slang term for 3D printed.
PLA is the most common kind of 3D printing material/filament.
A compensator is an attachment for a gun that I believe reduces recoil, but don’t quote me on that.
Lade I think is a typo and they meant made.
The image is of said 3D printed attachment on the business end of a pistol, presumably the aforementioned Glock Invader v2.
Definitely seems out of place on Beehaw.

Eh, all the 3d printing stuff is par for the course, the only “controversial” part is gun ownership, but if they live in the united states thats just a normal thing (for some godforsaken reason). The technology community specifically seems like the wrong place though
I live in the US and it’s not the gun ownership that was weird to me. Beehaw has never really been a hotbed of 2A activity, so seeing something about it was weird. I don’t see an issue with this post, other than maybe wrong community. Also not sure on the rules around gun posting
Mostly all 3D2A (3d printing, 2nd amendment) acronyms.
- Squirted = 3d printed
- Compensator = a barrel accessory intended to reduce recoil
- PLA - Type of 3d printing material.
- Invader v2 - The name of the design of a certain printable firearm frame
As someone with no 3d printing experience, but a lot of firearm experience, I’m surprised that PLA holds up as a comp.
It’s one thing to have a printed frame of course, but comps are right past the barrel and get the worst of gas and heat (by design). Hell, I have a very heavy comp on my HK P2000, and it gets absolutely scorched.
Reverse experience and I am also surprised. Seems like the worst material for almost anything around a gun
Fair amount of experience in both. And it works surprisingly well. For a time. I’ve had fully PLA printed designs like the fgc-9 and glock frames like the invader above hold up to hundreds of rounds, only to spontaneously shatter in the safe 2 years later. PLA is an amazing material, in ideal conditions.
I’m in the PNW, so ideal conditions outside the house are uncommon. PETG or ABS seem better suited, but I for sure don’t have the gun expertise
