I am so disappointed!
I’m reminded of the rumors around Louis Wain, contemporary of H. G Wells, who drew and painted cats, sometimes selling cartoons to periodicals. Wain suffered from mental illness, and spent some of his life as an inpatient.
The rumors are rampant: That he got crazier in time and his cats got more distorted, that he was infected with Toxoplasma-Gondi which drove his obsession with cats.
In fact, he lived a pedestrian life of a functional inpatient. Alleged progressions of his descent into madness feature art undated and sometimes unfinished. He was known to experiment with styles but also produced art of clear, normal-looking cats even late in life. T-Gondi was nowhere to be found, and, although its life-cycle journies though the house cat digestive system and can infect the human brain, obsession with cats is not a typical symptom. (Strangely, obsession with going very fast, is.)
Toxoplasma is such an interesting orgasnism. There’s actually a Czech scientist (Jaroslav Flegr, shameless country plug lol) that has done lots of research into it. Its life cycle, the symptoms in humans, when and why it’s dangerous…it’s interesting!
Our biology teacher briefly mentioned him and his work and I found it cool. It’s interesting how it seems to cause risk-taking behaviors in people.I should note that Flegr has some interesting opinions about Covid. Other than that tho, his work is quite interesting.

I’ve never tried LSD tho, so I wouldn’t know…I had people tell me that a restaurant was absolute hell on LSD, and I’ve watched friends try (and fail) to operate simple appliances… I imagine bodiy contact with two people while having to do a bit of general coordination would pretty quickly flip over from sexy to way too much. Might depend on the dose, of course.
