The new weight limit policy came after the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) warned that rescue winches - which are critical during offshore emergencies - cannot safely lift heavier people.

What?

Why is the solution not to make the rescue winches able to safely lift heavier people? What the hell?

“…anyone weighing more than 19st 7Ib (124kg) in civilian clothing and footwear will be banned from taking a flight to an offshore platform covered by UK safety regulations.”

124kg seems more than generous as a max lifting weight. That’s well into the obese range for even a 6’1" person. People need to take personal responsibility for their overeating instead of raising costs and risking safety for everyone else around them.

Yeah sorry we designed this helicopter to be only capable of lifting PRECISELY this weight and now we have framed the problem in a way where the only solution is you must lose weight.

Do I have a connection with weight loss pharmaceutical companies? Why would you even ask that? I go to the same country club but so what, stay out of my personal business.

      • “Precisely this weight”? First few BMI charts I found don’t even reach the weight limit for the helicopter - That is 124kg BTW.

At some point you need to consider your own lifestyle rather than insist they redesign a helicopter to accommodate your obesity.
