U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, is facing criticism over its homophobic response to a news story about a man deported to Mali, *[The Independent](https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/ice-fake-gay-60-minutes-report-b3074103.html)* reports.

On Monday, Fox News correspondent Brooke Taylor posted a report about Moussa Diawara, whose story was featured on *60 Minutes* on Sunday. Diawara was deported to Mali this summer.

“*60 Minutes* featured a deported Malian national whose wife and two children spoke about how much they miss him and want him home,” [wrote Taylor in her post on X](https://www.x.com/Brooketaylortv/status/2114783244084257165). “But we exclusively obtained Moussa Diawara’s asylum application, where he said he was seeking asylum in the U.S. because he was gay and feared being killed if sent back.”

Shortly afterward, ICE’s [official X account](https://www.x.com/ICEgov/status/2114794143436448233) reshared Taylor’s post and commented: “Fake & Gay!” It also stated that Diawara “now faces allegations of immigration FRAUD after his asylum application surfaced, revealing that he claimed to be a HOMOSEXUAL man who feared persecution in Mali.”

The post had amassed more than 5.4 million views at the time of publication and drew thousands of comments, including sharp criticism of the agency.
