How much do they charge for a trip?
I don’t think you get to choose the boat. I is part of a ferry system in South America, and varies depending on origin and destination. They don’t charge more for the electric boat, it is just now part of their fleet
Sorry, that was my attempt at being punny
Oh, lol, my bad
They charge watt is appropriate.
When you need to bring a car aboard is when it hertz.
41MWh. 40 min recharge time. You don’t want to short those leads accidentally. Wow.
I took an electric ferry on a visit to Norway. I didn’t know it was electric until we started moving, dead silent–I had been fully prepared for the smell and sound of a massive diesel motor.
Looking back at the dock I saw the big mother cable that was used for charging the thing. Absolutely bonkers. And that was small potatoes compared to this one.
That is wild… is there still the general overall lowfrequency humming of the ship while underway or does the electric engine not even really “vibrate” the ship?
With the caveat that it’s been a minute since I was there, at low speed there was absolutely nothing. I looked up and saw we were moving; until that moment, I didn’t even realize we were underway.
I vaguely recall some noise and vibration at speed, but it was relatively quite quiet.
That would make a one huge ”zap” for sure!
