I’m 99% sure even the interactions are entirely LLM generated. Almost every statement after any push back from the distribution maintainers reads like today’s frontier models reward or hacking, even the tarring of one maintainer’s Google association has multiple precedents that are similar.
The attempt after Debian with Arch also reeks of the same. The choice of Arch, since AUR historically was so relaxed, is to me, too smart, to both attribute to this actor and too difficult to reconcile with their otherwise braindead behavior.
How can you know which of various packaging options would have the lowest bar to entry, and also not think that there would be overlap between these two communities? Did they really expect no person in the Arch community to be aware of their Debian attempt?
None of this is internally consistent, and even in humans who suffer from things like hallucinations, when the source is not some pathogen or physical brain damage, their realities, though inconsistent with ours, still tend to be internally consistent.
I’ve had my time wasted in this way on bug reports against GitHub projects where some LLM comes by and offers a garbage PR and filling my Issue with braindead replies where it’s clear that it is operating as though I’m a maintainer on the project in question, a public fact that resolves to false.
I hate every last inch of LLMs. I hate tech for going all in on this. I hate that my coworkers all still use Claude even though I’ve explicitly told them about Musks turbines and the adjacent communities and criminally defrauding the markets. I hate Musk with the burning blue white heat of a thousand burning teslas. I hate that I’m the asshole today and when they see the hit that’s about to come to their retirement accounts I won’t be the good guy for trying to warn them (people tend not to remember what you said so much as how it made them feel).
Fuck them all anyway, LLMs kill people and will continue to kill peoples long after we’ve disposed of them entirely, and i think less of anyone who uses any LLM. When all the facts finally come to light and people learn how much racial oppression the US has waged powered by these tools, it’s going to lead to a mental health epidemic the scale of which only Covid and the associated lockdowns come to mind as non-battlefield equivalents, potentially worse because no individual had a choice if covid happened. Here any psychic pain will be entirely voluntary and self-inflicted, and the cognitive dissonance alone could send us all right back into our worst tribal tendencies as we divides into those who can incorporate the new information and those who cannot.
I want to be wrong but there’s a whole lot of facts in the way of that and more show up every day. Like the commercialization of blockchain bullshit and the casinos suddenly krazy glued to half the apps in our phones that came after, the long game here is accelerating the transfer of wealth to the top.
All of this can be distilled into the one true Ur-Hatred: I hate capitalism and how it subverts even its criticisms into packaged products and the perverse incentives that occur every step along the way
