Have have some questions about Lemmy that I hope some will answer
- How does federation work for Lemmy? Is it like mastodon?
- Can I post on subs from different servers?
- How do the rules work? If I post something on a different server who’s rules am I under?
You must log in or register to comment.

I know answers to two of those. Lemmy uses the ActivityPub protocol just like Mastodon and can even cross post to it. And yes you can post to any sub that you can subscribe to unless there is restricted posting, I guess.

The only rule here is to be(e) nice. Making the same post in multiple communities, here at Beehaw, is not nice. Advertising on Beehaw is not nice. Common sense should cover the rest.

With federation between lemmy instances a user on your lemmy needs to sub to a community on a different lemmy instance, then posts from that remote community will start appearing in your local ALL feed, as well as the users subscribed feed.
