What does Beehaw think about a community revolving around dark and horror related content? I’m an avid fan of the genre and think a community focusing on it could be really fun!

Potential types of content for it:

  • Media discussions and recommendations
  • Art showcases
  • Horror-oriented memes
  • Real world event histories, true crime
  • ARGs

When considering a new community on a small community like Beehaw, I think the key question to ask is not “what would people like to see”, but rather, “who will create the content”?

If you’re after a community like this because you have content you’d like to share, then I support it!

I would like this, I think. And I think it’s a good candidate for being distinct from the entertainment category, on account of a lot of people presumably don’t wouldn’t want to see horror posts or associated imagery in the regular entertainment feed.

Edit: I agree with the person who said they’re not so interested in memes or true crime. True crime content, in particular, would make the community a no-go for me. I enjoy fictional horror only, and seeing the true crime stuff there would just squick me out and make me feel weird about enjoying the fictional horror I do like. No shade to the people who do like true crime. I’d just rather it be separate from horror.

    • The point about horror content being so distinct is exactly why I felt like a separate community needed!

I included true crime and memes because, as Gaywallet said in another post, “small communities on the internet need to reach a level of activity to sustain [themselves].” I’m personally not into true crime, but put it out as a suggestion because of the thematic similarities
