Can we please replicate Gretchen Whitmer in about 3 or 4 other midwestern states? The way she turned Michigan around to progressive, smart legislation from what it was like 10 years ago was nothing short of miraculous.

What helped her was a political realignment due to the Dobb’s decision. Now seeing the Republicans going full anti-women’s-healthcare in 2023 - so 2024 may be Democrats’ best chance in a long time.

    • It’s important to note that she didn’t do it alone. There have been a lot of grassroots activists working diligently to combat the gerrymandering and to rouse usual nonvoters in conservative-leaning areas. Not taking anything away from Big Gretch, she’s been doing really well, but it’s a team effort that everyone can contribute to.

    • She appeals to independent voters in a state full of them. She was obviously the lesser of two evils candidate. If Republicans got their heads out of their asses they could retake the state, second term Gretch has been less appealing to more conservatively bent independents.
