Google released a new version of Android TV, but it can’t be installed on Google TV dongles yet. I have to wonder if Nvidia will update their ageing Shield TV line-up?

Honestly, I don’t remember the last time I used smart tv features, I just have it plugged to my computer via HDMI and use my smartphone for remote control via KDEConnect.

Similar here. Our new Sony came with Google TV, but it turns out you can set it up in “basic TV” mode which is nice for this: it strips away the clutter and leaves you with what’s effectively a dumb TV. I can still install firmware updates via a thumb drive.

I just installed stremio with RD and smartube with sponsor block on my android tv. Same result as yours. The only difference is it’s connected in th net. But what do i care, they already have my i fo through my android phone and my decades old Gmail and youtube account.
