After this post I had some discussions with lemmy.ml admins about how their plans to prepare for the new influx of users, and I wasn’t filled with confidence.
So I decided to strike out on my own and setup my own lemmy instance. This should ensure that discussions should continue normally during the blackout at least.
It’s not just for piracy though. It also includes communities for my other interests in Generative AI and video game creation. So if you want to talk about that cool stuff, head on over!

Nice! But can you share what exactly happened that didn’t fill you with confidence? I was of the opinion that they were pro-piracy

They didn’t fill me confidence about being able to keep their instance up. I suggested a few very basic steps to ensure stability and they seem to believe it’s not necessary because people should just spawn new instances instead. So I did.

Dedicated piracy instances popping up is the best!
Truly!

So should the piracy community on https://lemmy.fmhy.ml/ be disabled?
