im stuck between “Hot” and “Top Day”, hot sorting definitely updates more frequently but they both have their upsides
- starship_lizard ( @starship_lizard@lemmy.world ) English17•1 year ago
I was using “active,” but I just tried “new comments” and it’s pretty cool
i do like how it’s a nice blend between new posts and popular posts, i might switch to it
- peanuts4life ( @peanuts4life@beehaw.org ) English4•1 year ago
Oh I didn’t know it blended them. Thanks!
im pretty sure it just ranks posts by how long ago the newest comment was, but it does have the side effect of blending them

I switched to New and have been liking hat a lot more than Active

When I learned about the New tab, I chose New. Hot is confusing, I have it on Hacker News and I always miss stuff.

I’m currently on “active” but find myself turning on “new comments” a lot and I think I might make that switch permanent.

I use Posts > New and Comments > New, and I also alternate between Subscribed and Local, so that I can get a diverse stream of content without necessarily being subscribed to every single community on Beehaw.

New, for now. Very useful for finding updates.

New has been rather essential while we are still a small community. I have found my feeds to become repetitive in a way I remember Reddit being nearly a decade ago.

Only new
- jon ( @jon@lemmy.tf ) English3•1 year ago
I’ve been running on All - New to get a feed of everything currently indexed on my instance. Active seems to be moving pretty slowly, so I probably need to go index a bunch more communities.
- small44 ( @small44@beehaw.org ) English2•1 year ago
New
- sunaurus ( @sunaurus@lemm.ee ) English1•1 year ago
Hot is my favorite so far!
- jmp242 ( @jmp242@sopuli.xyz ) English1•1 year ago
I prefer new sorting.
- Aurix ( @Aurix@lemmynsfw.com ) English1•1 year ago
Something different than the default active. Still experimenting.
- Hexarei ( @Hexarei@beehaw.org ) English1•1 year ago
I’m still gerting used to the whole thing, just found the hot sort. Think I will probably go for that most often now.
