(not because of Infinity obv, it’s an amazing reddit app)
EROLoLICON ( @EROLoLICON@kbin.social ) 11•2 years agoI’ve always wondered why no one ever talks about Infinity. I tried every 3rd party reddit app and I always thought Infinity was superior. Mostly because of the sheer amount of customization it allows me to do.
ptsdstillinmymind ( @ptsdstillinmymind@lemmy.studio ) 3•2 years agoInfinity is the 💩. I hope the devs port it to work with Lemmy
tal ( @tal@kbin.social ) 2•2 years agoI used Infinity when I was on Android. The developer said that he’s gotta job-hunt (as someone pointed out, the fact that people prefer the app written by a single person who is now looking for a junior developer job over the official one that Reddit had a whole team to work on is a bit embarrassing) and doesn’t have plans to add Fediverse support, but also that it’s open source.

I imagine that if someone wants to do so badly enough, they could add Fediverse support.
makingStuffForFun ( @makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoIt truly is the best reddit client. I wish it would get a lemmy transition.
gk99 ( @gk99@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoI’m hoping for a transition from Boost! for Reddit, personally. That was the client I enjoyed using.
My problem is that I’m also using kbin, and kbin’s API is disabled so it makes more sense for everyone to make a Lemmy app instead. Don’t know if they’ll bother to implement kbin support once it’s up and running.
roon ( @roon@lemmy.ml ) 0•2 years agoI tried both infinity and boost and I prefer boost
Jojo-Mcfrost572 ( @Jojo-Mcfrost572@kbin.social ) 6•2 years agoI’d use jerboa but it just crashes all the time. Hangs, deletes comments and just isn’t up to scratch yet. So far tildes and kbin have been best die me. I jump around on all the Lemmy’s but can’t get my head around how to follow some subs.
Just trying to recreate my reddit feeds.
OsrsNeedsF2P ( @OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml ) 6•2 years agoThe issue isn’t Jerboa but rather the server you’re on is dying from too many users. Next Lemmy version (which hopefully will come out before the end of the month) is expected to fix a lot of problems
Jojo-Mcfrost572 ( @Jojo-Mcfrost572@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoLooking forward to it. I’m on different Lemmy’s though. Is that right ?
OsrsNeedsF2P ( @OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoYup, all the Lemmy servers use the same version (minus some semantics). If you played Minecraft before, you can imagine it like that - Mojang (people behind Minecraft) release a new version, and all the servers update to it
Jojo-Mcfrost572 ( @Jojo-Mcfrost572@kbin.social ) 2•2 years agoUnfortunately never played it. I do.not understand the instances and different Lemmy’s. Makes sense they all use the server. Probably would be good idea to have them separated as we know centralized can be corrupted.
I use kbin as well. Does that pull from Lemmy ? Kbin and Lemmy world seem to work far better than the jerboa app. I’m just pinging around them. Have tried tildes too but it’s invite only.
I’ve definitely experienced all of that. But they’re growing pains I’m sure!
buckykat ( @buckykat@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) 5•2 years agoI put Jerboa in Relay’s old spot on my homescreen
UprisingVoltage ( @UprisingVoltage@feddit.it ) 5•2 years agoI ended up uninstalling infinity! I definitely recommend it
badbrainstorm ( @badbrainstorm@lemmy.ml ) 3•2 years agoI want the smart people to make Infinity work with Lemmy. That would be rad af
Einar ( @original_reader@lemmy.ml ) 3•2 years agoSame. Dev hasn’t said anything in that direction, though.
That said, Jerboa looks like its developing well. Other apps, like Sync, will follow and add to the existing options.
The infrastructure is getting better and better week to week atm.
I haven’t seen anything from the dev, what’s up?
bonn2 ( @bonn2@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoFun fact infinity was made by one university student. And yet it is still infinity better than the official reddit app
Flax ( @Flax_vert@feddit.uk ) 0•2 years agoYep. As much as I love Lemmy, Jerboa has it’s growing pains rn. Apparently someone is working on an API to make old reddit apps compatible with the lemmy API
OsrsNeedsF2P ( @OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml ) 0•2 years agoTranslation layers really are the future of computing. Rosetta, Wine, Ruffle, and now a Reddit to Lemmy
8565 ( @lemmy@lemmy.quad442.com ) 3•2 years agoI had to uninstall infinity to get over it. But, I miss it so much
_comfortablyAverage_ ( @_comfortablyAverage_@lemmy.ml ) 0•2 years agoyou can still keep on using infinity with your own api key, I did it. but I don’t know if there’s any point since reddit is going down by the looks of it
roon ( @roon@lemmy.ml ) 0•2 years agoIf you use your own API key, won’t the api still be restricted? For example, NSFW posts
stephfinitely ( @stephfinitely@kbin.social ) 2•2 years agoCan’t wait to be able to sign into Kbin.social on it.
Flax ( @Flax_vert@feddit.uk ) 1•2 years agoIs that planned? Find it weird how on Mastodon I can find my lemmy account but not vice versa
Th4tGuyII ( @Th4tGuyII@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoYeah. Same for the Kbin PWA, though I do hope the dev behind Infinity considers pursuing support for Lemmy (plus Kbin would be nice too)
2d ( @2d@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoNice pfp :) rip hello internet ;-;
ShellSurf ( @ShellSurf@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoI’ve been really impressed with the kbin PWA. I thought the experience would suck, but I’ve been adapting just fine. I used Slide on Android.
gk99 ( @gk99@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoIt’s definitely not as good as some of the apps, but the usability is very good on mobile.
