I never ate pigeon or guinea pig. Only heard that it tastes like chicken and rabbit. But I still want to taste it.

Cherry Clan ( @CherryClan@beehaw.org ) 5•2 years agoMatsutake/pine mushroom
I had all kinds of mushrooms but not these ones. Some had this little problem that they are edible only once.
Drusas ( @Drusas@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoWhat do you mean they are edible only once?
Edit: To be clear, the post above implies that they are poisonous. They are not.
I mean mushrooms in general, I pick mushrooms in forest and have to know which are poisonous.
Drusas ( @Drusas@kbin.social ) 1•2 years agoI also pick mushrooms in the forest and have to know which ones are poisonous. With only a couple of exceptions, most are either poisonous for the first time (and then continuing after) or not poisonous at all. Until you start getting into eating some of them in large quantities and differences in people’s digestive systems.
Anyway, matsutake are perfectly safe to eat more than once unless you specifically have some sort of sensitivity to mushrooms in general.
Don’t forget that most mushrooms are poisonous/inedible raw you have to cook them with few exceptions.
wildeaboutoskar ( @wildeaboutoskar@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoI would love to forage but the risk of eating something poisonous definitely puts me off doing it
alliha ( @alliha@beehaw.org ) 5•2 years agoThose french snails! But on the milder side I’d love to taste rabbit, seems like it would actually be really good
Drusas ( @Drusas@kbin.social ) 4•2 years agoEscargot is very tasty.
Last rabbit I had lived for about a month in cage in our house. Dad said that he hadn’t killed rabbit in a long time when he started to prepare him.
Glitterlance ( @Glitterlance@beehaw.org ) 5•2 years agoJackfruit, durian(I want to know if it’s as bad as everyone says) and lion’s mane mushroom (I had it once but it’s so hard to find here). Also I saw a Ugandan recipe for plantain stew, subbed them with green unripe bananas but it’s probably not the same. Oh and Ethiopian injera!
Tordoc ( @Tordoc@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoI had the chance to try durian fruit chunks and durian ice cream! It tasted like sucking on a wet, slightly used dishrag. It was an… interesting flavor, but one I’m glad I got to try; I was only able to eat a third of my serving because the taste became more overbearing as I ate.
Duchess ( @Duchess@yiffit.net ) 5•2 years agoi’m not usually a fish person but i just saw a pic of salmon and it made me really hungry
Drusas ( @Drusas@kbin.social ) 2•2 years agoSalmon is one of the most delicious things in the sea. Especially Chinook/king salmon. So good.
Duchess ( @Duchess@yiffit.net ) 1•2 years agoNice! Maybe if I have some money spare to treat myself, I’ll go for it sometime
plactagonic ( @plactagonic@sopuli.xyz ) 1•2 years agoAny specific fish?
Duchess ( @Duchess@yiffit.net ) 2•2 years agothat i like? i have a fondness for shrimp/prawns if they’re done well, same with squid. i’ll also quite happily eat a piece of cod from the chip shop or whatever paste is made into a fish finger. i just don’t eat it or have a craving for it that much.
I mean like what fish you didn’t had but want to try.
Duchess ( @Duchess@yiffit.net ) 2•2 years agooh! that would be the salmon i saw earlier
thrawn ( @thrawn21@beehaw.org ) 4•2 years agoReally really good balsamic, the stuff that costs like $150 for a few ounces. I watched a video series about the making of it and taste tests against regular balsamic, and the desire to try it has been floating around my head.
Yeah I watched it too, I make some apple vinegar (sometimes unintentionally) and really like it.
It is similar to the basic acidic “balsamic” from these videos.
lentilhoarder ( @lentilhoarder@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoThe first video from the series in question for those wondering
Tordoc ( @Tordoc@beehaw.org ) 3•2 years agoI’m a very adventurous eating so I’ve had the chance to eat a bunch of different foods but my list of meats to try include goose, horse, dog, emu, and snake.
Drusas ( @Drusas@kbin.social ) 2•2 years agoCoconut crab, but sadly, I think that is illegal and it will never happen. Alas.
Gointhefridge ( @Gointhefridge@lemm.ee ) 2•2 years agoI’ve never eaten any kind of snake before. I’d be interested in trying snake. I’ve had gator sausage and kangaroo jerky, but snake seems intriguing.
Cherry Clan ( @CherryClan@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoI was going to say snake too. I’d feel guilty though because I love snakes.
