Seeker of Carcosa ( @WilloftheWest@feddit.uk ) English18•2 years agoI need a HD train suplex.
nzodd ( @nzodd@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoSon of a submariner, that would be swell
tyfi ( @tyfi@wirebase.org ) English18•2 years agoMy all time favorite
Deconceptualist ( @Deconceptualist@lemm.ee ) English12•2 years agoI want a remake with visuals done by the artist who illustrated the instruction manual, that would be amazing.

nzodd ( @nzodd@beehaw.org ) English6•2 years agoThat would be Yoshitaka Amano.
Deconceptualist ( @Deconceptualist@lemm.ee ) English3•2 years agoThanks 🙂
erin ( @erin@lemmy.sidh.bzh ) English11•2 years agoA 2D-HD remake of this game would be an instant buy for me. Hope one day it will happen…
eagleflo ( @eagleflo@lemmy.ml ) English10•2 years agoI’m just making sure you know about the recent 2D remaster: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1173820/FINAL_FANTASY_VI/
sapo ( @sapo@beehaw.org ) English7•2 years agoI’m not a huge fan of the graphics in these 2D FF remasters, they feel ‘neither here nor there’ with some elements in pixel art and some not.
Octopath Traveler’s the only game I feel got away with it, probably because the heavy filtering makes it more consistent.
Vestria ( @Vestria@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoLive A Live on Switch is the example everyone should be pointing to of what a proper 2D-HD remake of FF1-6 could (and should) look like.
It’s actually an almost offensive level of laziness, as a consumer, to have a company like Square Enix try to sell me a full-priced remaster collection that only includes partial use of 2D-HD in certain scenes and what essentially amounts to cheap 2D mobile game graphics everywhere else. And the difference is jarring. For the price I’m paying, I expect the full 2D-HD treatment, not…whatever half-assed nonsense this is.
Edit: Also, Octopath doesn’t “get away with it” because of filters, it’s a game made entirely in 2D-HD, which is why it’s consistent. Same with Octopath II and Live A Live.
erin ( @erin@lemmy.sidh.bzh ) English3•2 years agoI know bout that remaster and no a remaster is not like a remake… 2D-HD treatment is the best FF6 can hope. A glimpse at octopath traveler 2 show how this technology is the perfect dress for a game like FF6
Coelacanth ( @Coelacanth@feddit.nu ) English4•2 years agoI tend to agree, though I’d also be extremely curious what a full modern FF7R-style remake would look and play like. Not sure I’d prefer it, but the idea fascinates me.
DarkThoughts ( @DarkThoughts@kbin.social ) 5•2 years agoHonestly, I’m usually not a fan of what they do to pixel art games with their ugly 3D graphics.
Rozaŭtuno ( @Rozauhtuno@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) English3•2 years agoHonestly, I’d rather not. Remakes tend to be disappointing, and I don’t want that to happen to my favorite game.
...
But then again, uncle Ultros in 3D…
steal_your_face ( @steal_your_face@lemmy.ml ) English3•2 years agoYeah it’s my favorite FF but it seems unnecessary. We already got the pixel remasters, don’t really need a 3d remake ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: typos
Kiosade ( @Kiosade@lemmy.ca ) 2•2 years agoFF7R was pretty good, i’d like to see how they could expand on FF6. Although… there are way too many playable characters. Might not be possible to do it justice.
