HowDoYouDo87 ( @HowDoYouDo87@beehaw.org ) 3•2 years agoIf I never read the books, would I enjoy this show?
the_itsb (she/her) ( @the_itsb@beehaw.org ) 9•2 years agoMy husband has never read the books, watched Season 1 with me, and enjoyed it. The person saying it’s got problems isn’t wrong, but as confused as my husband was at times, I had a lot more problems with it than he did because of my knowledge of the books. I didn’t hate it at much as many other book fans did, so we will watch Season 2 and probably once again be entertained but mildly disappointed.
crisisingot ( @crisisingot@beehaw.org ) 6•2 years agoYeah I think the show is harder to watch if you’ve read the books.
I had some issues with season 1, but I’ll give season 2 a fresh chance. My wife who hasn’t read the books enjoyed it
CrescentMadeJr ( @CrescentMadeJr@beehaw.org ) English7•2 years agoI’ve read the books and still enjoy the show. So if you like that sort of thing, yep.
Encode1307 ( @Encode1307@lemm.ee ) English5•2 years agoYou kind of have to forget the books to enjoy the show, so yeah that probably wouldn’t be a hindrance.
HubertManne ( @HubertManne@kbin.social ) 3•2 years agoI think if you have not read the book you should enjoy it more than someone who has.
vagrantprodigy ( @vagrantprodigy@lemmy.whynotdrs.org ) English3•2 years agoProbably not. It’s not particularly well made or coherent.
Xariphon ( @Xariphon@kbin.social ) 3•2 years agoI think you can only enjoy this show if you haven’t read the books. My wife liked it. I was 100% cringe 100% of the time.
