Blaze (he/him) ( @Blaze@sopuli.xyz ) 54•2 years agoI am always a bit cautious with Brave products’ privacy policies
Traumkaempfer ( @Traumkaempfer@lemm.ee ) 47•2 years agoEspecially with the CEOs view on homosexuality.

kinttach ( @kinttach@lemm.ee ) English42•2 years agoBrave is a nice browser but I’m not going to trust crypto bros with my privacy.
martinjuhasz ( @martinjuhasz@beehaw.org ) 29•2 years agowell their CEO is a right wing nazi so no thanks.
pkulak ( @pkulak@beehaw.org ) 6•2 years agoAnd they just re-skin Chrome, so you are helping Google own the internet anyway. Use Firefox or Safari.
bermuda ( @bermuda@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agothe post is about the search engine not the browser
sculd ( @sculd@beehaw.org ) 22•2 years agoNope. Nope. And nope. Any company tied to crypto I will not trust.
Duckef ( @Duckef@lemmy.ml ) 14•2 years agoIt’s built on top of chromium, so they might be privacy preserving but google isn’t.
Nyla Smokeyface ( @Nyla_Smokeyface@beehaw.org ) 9•2 years agoFwiw this is about Brave Search, not the Brave Browser
Duckef ( @Duckef@lemmy.ml ) 3•2 years agoAh I see my bad, privacy focused alternative search engines are good. Carry on
masterofn001 ( @masterofn001@lemmy.ca ) 13•2 years agoHow many brave tokens and/or crypto do I get and/or mint by using their search?
hoodlem ( @hoodlem@hoodlem.me ) 8•2 years agoI don’t like the “attention token” nonsense—I turn that off—but I love Brave and its search engine. It is cool to have a search engine return results that are actually different than other SE’s and have those results be very good.
In fact, I find its results to often be better than the big search engines because results aren’t overtuned for SEO
Nix ( @nix@merv.news ) 7•2 years agoI’m very confused on how they were one of the first more well known companies to fully launch their own search engine. I would have expected Mozilla, Apple, or Facebook to do so first. Hopefully Proton launched one soon (or buys and open sources Kagi)
vluz ( @vluz@kbin.social ) 6•2 years agoDon’t trust brave, never will.
