I don’t know these were posted or not but here is my suggestions which every youtube watching person probably already heard about most of them:
Not Just Bikes: Channel about Urban Planing-Living and how destructive the cars are.
History Matters: Short animated videos about historical events, narrated with humor.
my mechanics: Best and most detailed restorations ever.
NileRed - NileBlue: All about experimenting with chemical reactions.
Oversimplified: Like the name, oversimplified narrations of historical events but in a long form with animated depictions and humor of course.
Stefan Milo: Really informative research videos of archeology.
The Linux Experiment: Like the name suggests it’s all about Linux.
Bad Lip Reading: It’s in the name.
ChrisFix: Best car repair channel out there.
DIY Perks: DIY videos but heavy on the entertainment side rather than the doable diys.
Ethan Chlebowski: Trying to understand cooking from the perspective of homecooks.
Alex (the French Guy Cooking): Reverse engineering the recipes.
Brick Experiment Channel: Building Lego machines.
These all are high quality channels imo. There are a lot more but I am kinda lazy for now.
This is a csv file of really high quality channels that you can directly use in Piped: Proton Drive Link to csv file

If you’re into bread tube / left tube, I highly recommend Innuendo Studios. In particular, Innuendo Studios’s playlist, “the Alt-Right Playbook.” It helps make sense of internet discourse.
- Gamma ( @GammaGames@beehaw.org ) English2•1 year ago
They’ve also got fantastic gaming related content, namely This is Phil Fish, The Artist is Absent: Davey Wreden and The Beginner’s Guide, and Who Shot Guybrush Threepwood.
Their series on Gamer Gate, Why Are You So Angry?, is also worth a watch!

You could add Summoning Salt to this list. I’m not really otherwise interested in world record attempts, but something about his narration is so good.
Another fun addition could be Oversimplified.
- NutsGate ( @NutsGate@feddit.nl ) 1•1 year ago
If you like Summoning Salt, I highly recommend OneShortEye.
- CuriousG ( @curiousgoo@beehaw.org ) 1•1 year ago
This didn’t tickle my fancy, but I can see why the videos are popular.

Gamers Nexus and The Linux Experiment kinda rubbed me the wrong way in a way that I’m not sure how to describe, so i personally couldn’t get into those when I tried BUT I can vouch that they are both popular and Gamers Nexus in particular is well endeared by the PC/Gaming community
- KrispeeIguana ( @KrispeeIguana@lemmy.ml ) 1•1 year ago
That’s understandable. When I first saw The Linux Experiment, he felt almost like a 3D render rather than a real human being. Gamers Nexus can get pretty passive aggressive.

+1 for primitive technology. Interesting guy that goes out to some empty land in I think Australia and builds houses and all kinds of stuff with just his hands and tools he makes himself. He is going for forging his own iron knife now, which is insanely impressive.

Sampson Boat Co. - British man and friends rebuild wooden sailing boat. If you have any interest in boats or craftsmanship you’ll enjoy. Watch from the very beginning to see their incredible progress.
Beau Miles - Charming and slightly rough Australian man has strange adventures and philosophizes along the way. He gets excited about particularly useful/edible bits of trash along the highway.
Primitive Technology - Silent man with blue shorts exists alone in the jungle and has been working his way up to iron tools. He is freakishly fast at making fire with only two sticks. Watch in order to see his progression and turn on captions to see his commentary.
Spirit Of The Law - Extremely thorough Age of Empires II science and analysis. If you thought this 24 year old video game was dead, think again.
Settled - Old School RuneScape player plays the game with extra restrictions that create surprisingly compelling storytelling. “Swampletics”, his Morytania-locked Ultimate Iron Man is legendary.
DIY Perks - British guy makes mostly brass/wooden PCs and other tech. His creations aren’t always the most practical but they are always interesting. His slim PlayStation 5 was neat.
There’s a handful of sustainable farming channels that I like: No-Till Growers, Richard Perkins, and Josh Sattin Farming. If your interests include food or growing stuff then these are for you.

The China Show. Latest Video shows the astonishing destruction from the floods in Beijing and how the CCP is doing their best to cover it up. Literally. No, actually literally. Timecode is about 7:20 if I remember correctly.
I’ve been binging their videos for 2 weeks, and learning so much about how China actually works.
- ∟⊔⊤∦∣≶ ( @luthis@lemmy.nz ) 5•1 year ago
Oh and they are also on Odysee so you can watch there if you want!
- Addfwyn ( @Addfwyn@lemmy.ml ) 1•1 year ago
Oh no, not the racist sexpats. Not sure I would necessarily want to be using those guys as your source of news in China. Laowhy is an absolute piece of shit to his wife, and actually made a video of himself desecrating gravesites in Taiwan and laughing about it. Complained that his daughter looked too asian. Just an absolute piece of garbage.
They found out being condescending towards Chinese people sells right now, and that has been their entire brand since they left the country. They’re probably useful in that anything they say, you can assume the exact opposite is the truth.
- ∟⊔⊤∦∣≶ ( @luthis@lemmy.nz ) 1•1 year ago
Wow a wumao! I didn’t expect to see one here!
Give my regards to Winnie.
You know Winston and Laowhy86 are fighting for you and against the CCP right? You know they only want the oppression of the CCP to end and for China’s people to be free right? You know every single episode like 5 times they will say ‘and we aren’t talking about the Chinese people, the Chinese people are good people, we love China, we are opposed to the CCP’?
If you want to talk smack about Laowhy then you better provide proof. I’ve seen what you guys do. Winston liked a comment from someone who said ‘that toilet needs to be napalmed’ and then all you wumao’s are like ‘Winston wants to napalm Asians!’
It’s not working, Mr CCP Shill. Come over to the light side and help us criticise the CCP and expose their racism, oppression and corruption that is holding back China’s development. Don’t do it for me, do it for the Chinese people who deserve better than Xi Jinping’s tyranny.
- Addfwyn ( @Addfwyn@lemmy.ml ) 1•1 year ago
Give my regards to Winnie.
Shock, the guy who watches racists is a racist.
‘and we aren’t talking about the Chinese people, the Chinese people are good people, we love China, we are opposed to the CCP’?
The white man’s burden bullshit argument. Oh those poor Chinese people can’t possibly really support the CPC, they are just misguided and need us brave foreigners to come save them.
If you want to talk smack about Laowhy then you better provide proof.
Laowhy desecrating remains. His girlfriend (at the time) calls him out on it and he tells her to shut up because it makes good content. Nobody who loves China descreates their dead. You can’t even use the excuse that he was confused or didn’t know what it was, he was told to stop and refuses.
His treatment of his wife. Makes her sit on the floor of the car while he makes racist jokes with his family. Sorry to link to reddit, I don’t keep extensive archives of these guys.
Not expecting you to suddenly change your opinion on the CPC, but these guys in particularly are indefensible and nobody should be encouraged to watch them.
- ∟⊔⊤∦∣≶ ( @luthis@lemmy.nz ) 1•1 year ago
Shock, the guy who watches racists is a racist.
😂 Because I’m using a meme made by the Chinese people that offends a single person?
The white man’s burden bullshit argument. Oh those poor Chinese people can’t possibly really support the CPC, they are just misguided and need us brave foreigners to come save them.
Oh come on, you and I both know that you’re not allowed to speak against the government in China. But we can speak out in the free world and raise awareness, and hopefully that will put more pressure on the CCP. Why do you assume I’m white bro?
On the videos, well, for his wife in the car, that’s kinda what happens when you don’t have enough seats in the car. Someone’s gotta sit on the floor. It’s been me plenty of times. You’re making assumptions, I didn’t see him make her sit there. I wasn’t able to tell from the tiny snippet the context of the chatter, and ‘racist’ jokes happen among close people anyway. It doesn’t mean anyone is actually racist, and from how much he harps on and on and on against racism on the podcast… well. It’s clear to me.
On the grave desecration however, Laowhy has spoken about it and been regretful of his younger self’s actions. I’ve done stupid shit before, but I’m not going to defend his actions there. I wouldn’t have done it. It sounds like grave desecration, even when unintentional or unknowingly is an unforgiveable sin that you could never look past, even if I showed you proof that Laowhy is really apologetic, is that right?
