I feel like whoever buys this should turn the garden into a satanic shrine, just to balance things out.
- CaptObvious ( @CaptObvious@literature.cafe ) 23•1 year ago
I mean, it’s already a pretty good Pagan nature temple.
- VioletTeacup ( @VioletTeacup@feddit.uk ) 7•1 year ago
This is true! It just needs a sacred tree and a few triskellions to complete the look.

And loads and loads of wild flowers and “weeds” like dandelions.

Paint it, have it appraised for many moneys, hang it there and watch the neighbour somehow ruin it. Claim damages for many money.

I am not well versed in religion but wasn’t it their god that said not to idolize him ?
- AK77 ( @AK77@feddit.uk ) 35•1 year ago
It’s fine, they’re mostly idolising his mum.
- CaptObvious ( @CaptObvious@literature.cafe ) 7•1 year ago
He actually told them not to worship “false” idols. Idols of his family are fine.

Jesus Christ 😶

It would be an awful lot creepier if they were pictures of you.

- squiblet ( @squiblet@kbin.social ) 12•1 year ago
to me, this is a dichotomy of spiritual symbolism and worship of nature. I prefer the one on the right, personally.

Needs more wicker man.

I’d imagine them being the judgiest neighbors ever. “Dont have sex too loud, the neighbors might hear us.”

Neighbors coming over… “have you found Jesus?”
“No, but we’re still looking”

- ARF_ARF ( @arf_arf@reddthat.com ) 3•1 year ago
There’s absolutely nothing creepy about this and you know it.
- subversive_dev ( @Transform2942@lemmy.ml ) 3•1 year ago
Perhaps you have never been oppressed by professing Christians before?
- ARF_ARF ( @arf_arf@reddthat.com ) 3•1 year ago
Perhaps I’m not a gay man in a majorly Christian Orthodox country that has some pretty choice views of homosexuality?
If only it were thus…
Nevertheless, there’s nothing creepy about crosses and you know it. The fact Christian churches have some nasty views on some issues doesn’t make their iconography creepy.
I grew up around icons and other Christian accoutrements. I don’t find them scary. Neither do you.
This is all performative and tiring.
I was raised catholic, I’m heterosexual and OP. I don’t find crosses creepy, I do find OTT shrines creepy. Shrines to anything, not just Christian iconography. I also find overly realistic crucifixes creepy, as I commented elsewhere.
This isn’t performative, this is a lightheaded community about weird estate agent photos. It’s not meant to be deep, just mildly amusing. If you find it so tiring, feel free not to interact with this community. If you’d like to continue to participate here, please read the rules in sidebar and refrain from bad faith arguments, unasked for criticism or insults in future. This is your warning.
- DVNGY ( @Dangy@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 3•1 year ago
Maybe not creepy; but you can admit, at the very least, off-putting.
- DVNGY ( @Dangy@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 3•1 year ago
Is there a decent ex-Christian (not strictly athiest) community on here?
There’s two !exchristian communities, @lemmy.world and lemmy.one but they’re both dead at the moment. Same for exmormon@lemmyworld. You should start one!
- athos77 ( @athos77@kbin.social ) 3•1 year ago
Or start posting in the existing ones.
Sure. That’s why I linked them. I just dislike the way people created dozens and dozens of communities and then didn’t add any content.
