ℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠 ( @Nemo@midwest.social ) 25•10 months agoYes, when I was completely wrong and someone else corrected me in a reply. It’s happened a handful of times. I don’t like to delete comments.
I think in that case I’d probably add an update to the comment. But downvoting yourself feels really honest somehow
ℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠 ( @Nemo@midwest.social ) 6•10 months agoOh, I edit with a strikethrough or correction as needed. But that’s what downvotes are for, reducing the impact of irrelevant content.
funchords ( @funchords@lemmy.sdf.org ) 17•10 months agoYes. When somebody else has a better take and I want it to be the top comment, I will downvote mine.
Corroded ( @CorrodedCranium@leminal.space ) English9•10 months agoNo. Any site that upvotes your post automatically is designed that way. It’s not like Facebook where liking your own comment is kind of like jerking yourself off for the lack of better words
Patrizsche ( @Patrizsche@lemmy.ca ) 4•10 months agoIn front of other people, too
Perfect words
Fizz ( @Fizz@lemmy.nz ) 8•10 months agoNah I only upvote comments and very rarely downvote. If I’m wrong I’ll just reply saying that i was wrong and concede the point.
orizuru ( @orizuru@lemmy.sdf.org ) 8•10 months agoI see you like playing life on hard mode.
Mugmoor ( @Mugmoor@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English6•10 months agoNo. If anything I’d edit my post to better reflect what I was trying to communicate.
Sooperstition ( @Sooperstition@lemmy.one ) 5•10 months agoMy instance doesn’t allow me to :)
To downvote your own or to downvote anything at all?
Sooperstition ( @Sooperstition@lemmy.one ) 3•10 months agoI can’t downvote anything at all
Haha that’s one way to keep a positive attitude ^^
recursive_recursion [they/them] ( @recursive_recursion@programming.dev ) English4•10 months agoYup
might as well keep my dumb comments up so I don’t make the same mistakes again
PonyOfWar ( @PonyOfWar@pawb.social ) 4•10 months agoNo… until now!
CanadaPlus ( @CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org ) 5•10 months agoGive me some love too, everybody!
Actually, I think I downvoted myself on Reddit once, but this will be a first for Lemmy.
What was the reason on Reddit? ^^
CanadaPlus ( @CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org ) 6•10 months agoI don’t remember the context, but IIRC I said something, and realised I was being seriously dumb later in the discussion, to the point that just crossing it out wasn’t enough. It was a long time ago.
The Cuuuuube ( @Cube6392@beehaw.org ) English5•10 months agoI downvoted an old comment of money because I grew and changed and no longer acreed with the 19yo version of myself
Haha, that’s kind of funny. You really are a different person at different ages.
Call me Lenny/Leni ( @shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee ) English3•10 months agoI tested it to see what would happen a few days ago, since there are some platforms where downvoting your comment causes it to become deleted. Nothing happened, so I just went about my way.
gabriele97 ( @gabriele97@lemmy.g97.top ) 3•10 months agoNo.
EDIT: did it now for the first time
Johannes Jacobs ( @johannes@lemmy.jhjacobs.nl ) 3•10 months agoNo. If it was something worth for me to downvote, i wouldn’t post it in the first place.
PixeIOrange ( @PixeIOrange@feddit.de ) 2•10 months agoNo!
