I don’t really plan to use it on legal documents yet (it is a nightmare to legally change my legal name in my country), but it might sound better online and to introduce myself. I would appreciate suggestions uwu.

someone I know has a last name of “Breedlove” 👀
Sounds like an incel self help author:

You might want to start by looking at common last names for a region you identify with.
e.g. here’s a list of common surnames in England/Wales (Picked because I’m British myself)
If I had to pick from that particular list, I might go with:
- Valentine Yates
- Valentine May
- Valentine Frost
(also several borderline puns such as Valentine Hart, Valentine Rose, Valentine Day)
e: Oh also, I honestly didn’t think my full name flowed very well initially. But I got used to it over time!

Pronounced væləntain with an “eye” sound or væləntin with an “ee” sound? Or some other variation?
- Lux ( @Lux@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 1•10 months ago
Not sure if others pronounce it differently, but I would say val (as in value) en (enter) tine (t eye n)

That’s how I pronounce it too! Jw because idk what country OP is from, nor their first language. So they might pronounce it differently, and I’d pair different surnames depending on pronunciation

Perpetua was a female saint who many consider to have been gay. She is cited as a patros saint of lesbians. She also had a dream about turning in to a man.
As a saint, its a thematic pair with valetine, but not used as a first name for centuries.
The name also signals intent to endure and live even in the face of adversity.
It is absolutely amazing, I didn’t know about her. I wasn’t very sure about Perpetua, like, Valentine Perpetua. But then I started reading and see that her first name was Vibia. Vibia Valentine sounds cool, it might work. I’ll see if it sticks.
BTW I’m not lesbian, I’m bisexual in a relationship with a cis man. Hopefully I’m not appropriating anything from lesbians, lol.

Vibia Valetine sounds cool as fuck. Thats awesome! And like, I don’t think people will mind, some people also call her the patron saint of trans people.

Do you have initials that you would like to have?
Not really, anything goes, but I really like the letter V
- violetraven ( @violetraven@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 2•10 months ago
So Valentine (last name starting with ‘V’)?
