Seriously amazing for those old nerds like me who are use to IRC, irssi or Weechat. Give Gomuks a try. It’s what I expect of a modern client that doesn’t get in the way like a lot of the GUI’s. I like this versus irssi/weechat because it’s first party support for matrix not a WIP plugin.
What do you think? Reach out and say hi to me on matrix! @penguincoder:hive.beehaw.org

It is a very nice client, I used it for nine months but had to drop it once my boss decided to use Matrix for calls as well. Unfortunately, gomuks does not even signal calls, so I wouldn’t be able to just switch to a different client and join the call from there. Besides that, this client is really great!

I wrote one too:

GoMuks is great, but I wanted something stupid simple. Haven’t worked on it in a little bit. Need to get back in there, but I do still use it myself.
Thanks for sharing your project.

I used it for a while (before switching to Nheko for its compact mode). It was nice to have the option of using Matrix from a terminal.

Does it send notifications
I have it on a terminal multiplier (Tmux) and it highlights the window name when I receive what would be a notification. It does not send any other notifications cross terminal sessions though. Also does support notify-send for notifications for desktop environments, so if that’s how you use it you should get GUI notifications.
