        As a non-native English-speaker, what i find is:

        Sin

        noun

1 transgression of divine law: the sin of Adam.

2 any act regarded as such a transgression, especially a willful or deliberate violation of some religious or moral principle."

        (from https://www.dictionary.com/browse/sin?r=75&src=ref&ch=dic )

both definition include a notion of religion.

not talking about murder here. just about the notion of “sin”.

The key word is moral here.

One of the ten commandments is do not commit murder.

Sin certainly has religious elements yes. But every wrong doing is sin. And the big ones are in the ten commandments, which include things like stealing, murder, and cheating on your spouse.

      • The word itself is better translated as “to miss the mark” the mark being perfect love, a fuck load of people think they aren’t sinning are, just by living in a first world country, and a boat load of athiests, Muslims, Hindus, Sheiks etc aren’t sinning as much as Christians think.
