Here’s a tip for Americans, if you want to annoy a Canadian ask them if they’re from Alberta, if they ask why tell them they give of Alberta vibes, if you’re feeling sauce just say 'Berta vibes instead of Alberta vibes.
- Patrizsche ( @Patrizsche@lemmy.ca ) 5•1 year ago
I laughed out loud
- Kyle ( @Kyle@lemmy.ca ) English8•1 year ago
I would agree with this answer for the Zeitgeist of how Canadians see Albertans from a stereotypical way, and this is true for our rural population. But politically, Ontario takes the Alabama cake for voting in so many Ford’s so many times. How do you guys keep doing this?

That’s the Saarland for Germany or some parts of Bayern (Bavaria) depending on who you ask
- Chariotwheel ( @Chariotwheel@kbin.social ) 29•1 year ago
Bavaria is more like Texas and Saxony is Florida, the crazy swamp part, not the rich.
- thefartographer ( @thefartographer@lemm.ee ) 8•1 year ago
What do Bavaria and Texas families have in common?
Something something cream

- Mananasi ( @Mananasi@feddit.nl ) 11•1 year ago
In the Netherlands it’s Urk, although it’s not a province but a municipality
- mayonaise_met ( @mayonaise_met@feddit.nl ) 4•1 year ago
There’s even a genetic disease specific to Urk. Half of the people who have it are from the the former island and as I understand it the others have their roots there.
- MacroCyclo ( @MacroCyclo@lemmy.ca ) 1•1 year ago
That’s ok, your country is the size of a province.
- sndrtj ( @sndrtj@feddit.nl ) 11•1 year ago
For the Netherlands: Katwijk, even had a genetic disease named after it.
- why ( @why@lemmy.sdf.org ) 2•1 year ago
The article actually says the desease is not the result of incest, but instead all people with the decease most likely share a common ancestor.
- interolivary ( @interolivary@beehaw.org ) 4•1 year ago
So, incest?
