  • My grandfather was an amateur radio hobbyist, who was a part of the Norwegian resistance movement during WW2, and helped pass on coded messages for the sabotage of the German production of heavy water for a nuclear bomb.

  • My late great grandmother lived past 100 and was one of the women tortured during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. I never really got to know her as much because I was busy playing around with my cousins

  • While doing genealogy, I found that on my mother’s side of the family (who grew up in a rural poor community) was Arthur Cappell. He was executed by Parliament for supporting the Royalists during the civil war. My Southern ancestors are guilty of worse things, but this still weirds me out whenever I think about it considering my personal very leftwing politics.
