I’ve been looking around for some ideas for a birdhouse with a camera inside to look for nesting visitors. Does anyone have anything to suggest for a good setup there?

I know that this isn’t a recommendation, but I do know that techmoan put out a video against getting a bird buddy.
Hey, it’s a good start, I appreciate the note! I have a feeling this is going to end up being a DIY project

This channel is all about nest cams, you can sometimes catch the design of his cameras if you watch the videos: https://www.youtube.com/@RobertEFuller/videos
Seems like he’s just cut a hole in the backside of a nesting tree, put up a sheet of plexiglass to seal it up, then built a sealed box for the camera behind the plexiglass.
If you’re making your own birdhouse, theoretically all you need to do is make one side plexiglass, then build a second box just for the cam. Ideally the second box completely covers the plexiglass and doesn’t let any light in.
Thank you so much for the rec! I’ll definitely check this out and see what I can work out

And if you’re not tied to nest/google as much, I can recommend geeni cameras. They’re fairly cheap and their cloud subscription pricing is priced alright provided you’re just using the one camera.
