Basically title, looking for a good OSS to play audiobooks from a Plex server
EmpiricalFlock ( @EmpiricalFlock@beehaw.org ) 11•8 months agoAt the moment I’m using Audiobookshelf (completely separate from my Plex Media Server, but running on the same computer) in a Docker container, but since I don’t yet have a reverse proxy set up it is LAN or downloads only. So, I would be very interested in an answer to this as well.
Edit: I just noticed your post in c/Plex; you may want to include a link to the other post in the body so that people answering can check the other to see if their answer has already been offered.
Twigs218 ( @Twigs218@lemmy.ml ) 4•8 months ago+1 for Audiobookshelf and combine it with a VPN such as
for remote access.
Mugmoor ( @Mugmoor@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English3•8 months agoPlexamp is free now. Just use that.
EmpiricalFlock ( @EmpiricalFlock@beehaw.org ) 3•8 months agoPlexamp is fantastic for music, but does it work well for audiobooks yet? As far as I can tell Plex just does not handle long audio files well.
Captain Beyond ( @beyond@linkage.ds8.zone ) 1•8 months agoIs it actually free (as in freedom), or merely gratis? It looks proprietary to me.
entropicdrift ( @entropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.org ) 1•8 months agoFor my Jellyfin server I use Symfonium to play audiobooks. It’s not FOSS, but it was well worth the $5 I paid for it due to all the audio settings available.
Just checked and it does support Plex, Emby, and Subsonic as well as Jellyfin.
