Subs on Lemmy.ml don’t show the same comments when I’m browsing it through my Beehaw account. Most posts have no comments at all (and 0 upvotes too), but I can go straight to lemmy.ml in another tab and see that there are in fact discussions going on in the comments. This problem doesn’t affect all of the posts. Some are normally populated.
Also I checked that it has nothing to do with lemmygrad being defederated or blocked from Beehaw, the comments which are not showing can be from various instances.
Edit : Also it happens in subs I have subscribed to.
How can I troubleshoot that ?

I’ve also noticed this but been unable to figure out exactly what’s going on. Sometimes the comments would eventually show up, other times they seemed to never show up. I didn’t really have time to investigate deeply and figured it was an issue with federation not syncing appropriately (perhaps update messages sent were not received by beehaw and they were never sent again or checked?). Anyhow, mostly showing up to confirm it’s not an issue with just this user’s account, but something I have noticed as well.

One factor is that your instance should have subscribers to that community before it will start syncing. Even then it seems to be bugged and not all comments go through
I’ll edit my post to add that it’s happening in subs I have suscribed to.

I have noticed this too on our instance as well. I had one user fix the issue by unsubscribing and re-subscribing to the community, then it started federating properly.
Good to know. After reading your comment I tried unsubscribing and subscribing again but it didn’t solve the issue.

also, sometimes it takes a bit for the community to “sync” as well. but again, it might be a different issue too, i don’t know for sure.

I also noticed that I don’t get posts in my feed from some communities of other instances. For example !linuxhumor@lemmy.ml
I can’t find this community via search from beehaw as well unless I preview it on lemmy.ml
Can anybody confirm this?

this is the correct link: https://beehaw.org/c/linuxhumor@lemmy.ml
and it shows that it has 0 subscribers from beehaw, so that’s why you won’t see any posts in your feed. it needs at least 1 subscriber from your instance, then it should federate properly.
https://beehaw.org/linuxhumor@lemmy.ml is 404 for me too.

I have the same issue on my personal instance. I only browse communities I’m subscribed to and this happens, especially with the votes missing.
