MyOpinion ( @MyOpinion@lemm.ee ) English64•2 years agoSounds like this needs to be settled in a cage match fight!
FlanFlinger ( @FlanFlinger@lemmy.ml ) English17•2 years agoThey’re insufferable enough cunts as it is, can you imagine what they’d be like after the ego massage of winning a cage fight?
Karyoplasma ( @Karyoplasma@discuss.tchncs.de ) English5•2 years agoWhat “ego massage”? Zuckerberg would mop the floor with Musk and they both know that. One is a 39 and has actually won martial arts tournaments, the other one is 52 and looks like he would pant after walking to the ring.
burak ( @burak@lemmy.ml ) English3•2 years agoMama says no
KoboldCoterie ( @KoboldCoterie@pawb.social ) English28•2 years agoI’d personally love to see Zuck and Musk have a “Who can afford better lawyers” war. That’d be a sight to see.
Osayidan ( @Osayidan@social.vmdk.ca ) English36•2 years agoI’m sure the lawyers would love it too.
funnyletter ( @funnyletter@lemmy.one ) English10•2 years agoIs Musk gonna pay the lawyers tho because he’s sure as shit not paying anyone else.
KoboldCoterie ( @KoboldCoterie@pawb.social ) English7•2 years agoHe’ll just rate-limit his legal correspondence.
cnqr ( @cnqr@beehaw.org ) English1•2 years agoLet’s not forget how Musk ended up having to buy Twitter in the first place.
Musk would do more damage to Musk than Zuckerberg’s lawyers.
Rannoch ( @Rannoch@lemm.ee ) English14•2 years agoImagine if other similar formats sued each other like this - one forum site suing another because they both use text-based forum communication. I’m so tired of facebook/meta/twitter/etc.
ken27238 ( @ken27238@beehaw.org ) English12•2 years agoIn a letter to CEO Mark Zuckerberg published by Semafor, a lawyer for Twitter said the company “has serious concerns that Meta Platforms (Meta) has engaged in systematic, willful and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property
lol what trade secrets. Elon’s 100% scare that brands are jumping ship to a platform that isn’t dumpster fire.
jon ( @jon@lemmy.tf ) English12•2 years agoWhat “trade secrets” does he claim were stolen? Obviously ex-Twitter employees who move to Meta know their tech stack. But there’s not a chance that their codebases are compatible so even if someone directly carried cover over from Twitter to a new job at Meta, it’s not like it would be useful.
And if he thinks current Meta employees are still accessing Twitter IP/code/etc, Elon probably needs to first look internally and maybe not fire entire security & compliance teams.
carbotect ( @carbotect@vlemmy.net ) English9•2 years agoHopefully Threads can tank all the lawsuits from Twitter, so that Mastodon can operate in peace lol.
I wonder tho, how much Threads has copied from Mastodon
krackalot ( @krackalot@vlemmy.net ) English5•2 years agoThat would be fine with me if they had no effect on me and lived in a vacuum. Which I propose we put them in. The vacuum of space or a vacuum tube at the bottom of the ocean, either works for me.
worfamerryman ( @worfamerryman@beehaw.org ) English1•2 years agoOr that dust vaccume in my grandma’s basement?
magnetosphere ( @HappyMeatbag@beehaw.org ) English5•2 years agoIt’s about time. There is absolutely no way that such a groundbreaking app could exist without stealing trade secrets from Twitter. The mere concept of making words appear on a screen, and somehow transmitting them to large numbers of people, is virtually inconceivable.
that_one_guy ( @that_one_guy@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoThe real tech breakthrough here is that they have somehow (I truly cannot even begin to fathom the technical details here, but that’s why I don’t work at Meta) managed to have these text posts organize themselves into some sort of hierarchical structure with other related text posts. This is going to revolutionize the internet.
IntergalacticTowel ( @IntergalacticTowel@lemmy.sdf.org ) English4•2 years agoAhhh, now this is funny. Honestly made my day brighter.
Kosta554 ( @Kosta554@feddit.nl ) English4•2 years agoLet them cook!
🌴 𝓣𝓸𝓾𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓽 ( @tourist@community.destinovate.com ) English3•2 years agoDo it, let them mutually decide to give all their money to lawyers and sue each other into bankruptcy for launching the same tired products nobody wants.
alehel ( @alehel@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agoOk… Why would Meta know of Twitter’s trade secrets?
phonelife ( @phonelife@beehaw.org ) English1•2 years agoWill they still have a cage match if they’re litigating?
radix ( @radix@lemm.ee ) English1•2 years agoWhy is Meta being sued by Twitter for imitating its functionality but Mastodon isn’t? Are open source developers more allowed to infringe on Twitter’s “trade secrets” than proprietary devs?
