That about the best I could do
I can’t believe that! It looks great, thanks a lot!
- Mothra ( @Mothra@mander.xyz ) 7•10 months ago
That’s cool, what did you use?
- Kalothar ( @Kalothar@lemmy.ca ) 7•10 months ago
I use Fotor when im doing something like this. It’s a website and mobile app and really well made

The eyes of the right person are changed. But yes, great!
They look like a spy!

If you have Photoshop, it has some AI powered filters that are pretty amazing. One is specifically made to do what you are asking about.
- e0qdk ( @e0qdk@kbin.social ) 5•10 months ago
Photoshop would probably be easier if you have it (or are willing to pay for it), but I think it may also be possible to do with tools like Krita and some of the generative AI plugins people have made for it – e.g. https://github.com/Acly/krita-ai-diffusion
I haven’t messed with it personally, but it’s on my list of fun looking AI things to try out eventually if/when I finally get a better GPU.
- blindsight ( @blindsight@beehaw.org ) 2•10 months ago
That’s brilliant. And it only needs 6GB of video memory. I can actually run it with my low-mid end gaming build!
- Mahlzeit ( @Mahlzeit@feddit.de ) 1•10 months ago
Ironic, given that Krita came out against AI.
- zcd ( @zcd@lemmy.ca ) 6•10 months ago
Stable diffusion might be an option, I am using it to restore some old photos but there is quite the friggin learning curve
- averyminya ( @averyminya@beehaw.org ) 4•10 months ago
I know it’s not what you’re looking for but there are professional restorers who can do this. I do understand wanting to be able to get it done yourself, though.

This is a pretty good video about restoration options.
- LogicalDrivel ( @LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz ) English2•10 months ago
I haven’t tried it personally, but https://deoldify.ai/ might be an option. Though, it seems more geared towards colorizing than restoring.
- Wahots ( @Wahots@pawb.social ) 2•10 months ago
This is honestly a pretty good use for AI that I didn’t think about.
- Scrubbles ( @scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech ) English2•10 months ago
Check out the Topaz line of products. You’ll have to pay (I think there’s a trial though), but it does pretty amazing work
- Omega_Haxors ( @Omega_Haxors@lemmy.ml ) 2•10 months ago
I tried them out for the business, eventually barely decided not to go for it because it couldn’t do anything I couldn’t do myself, but I have to admit it’s one of the few rare instances out of everything that I tried that I would actually spend money on. It’s not revolutionary or game-changing compared to other tools (such as stable diffusion) it’s just a really competent auto-photoshop.
- Scrubbles ( @scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech ) 2•10 months ago
Exactly. If I knew photoshop I wouldn’t have as easily purchased it. The upscaling is pretty much the only thing photoshop can’t do as well, but there are plugins that will get it pretty close. But for my skill level? Pretty happy with it.
