The funny thing about the culture in Germany, is I don’t live in Germany.

Only time I would break it out is if the game wasn’t available in a modern platform. the QoL enhancements are just… such a time saver.

the OG load times and play mechanics that were used to just pad everything out… just suck balls to deal with today. There is nothing ‘retro cool’ about having to sit through a FF7 summon sequence 10 times in a boss fight and having it be an extra 10 minutes. Thank god for the FF feature on my PS5 version of the game.

i get regular matches on most every dating app. and i have never paid for it. last time I turned off my Hinge I had over 100+ matches over about 9 months.\

that said, i only went on about 6 in person dates, because the vast majority of women who are interested in me are not compatible with me and i’m not looking for casual relationships.

speak for yourself. i have a dog for 5 years. i only ever meet married people and people over 60+ at the dog park.

there are no young single people at my dog park, besides myself.

hell just walking around, in a major city, only people who are 50+ will ever stop and say hi to my dog. nobody under 40 (my own age) will interact with my dog or me, if anything often they move to the other side of the street to avoid us. but if hte person has grey/white hair they are more than happy to smile and ask to pet my dog.

Even though I recently helped two other people setup gaming PCs and they constantly have headaches or have entire games they can’t play due to technical issues or have to wait months for a patch before a game can be played. Or they want to play old games and they just don’t work without hours of custom work to get them to load.

so if i don’t want to spend 2 hours installing custom drivers to play a game I lack skill?

I think you mean patience. 2 hours installing custom driver is 2 hours I am not playing the game. I don’t know about you, but I have better shit to do with those 2 hours and many other interests besides configuring a computer I’d rather spend those 2 hours on.

tipping for take out, counter service and all that was never mandatory and rarely expected.

however that’s all changed post-covid and there are no standardized rules for any of it.

there are also new non-optional fees many places charge in additional to tips. they do this rather than increase menu prices. so on many restaurnts in my city you pay menu cost, tax, fees, then are expected to tip 25%.

the expectation of what a ‘normal tip’ is has also almost doubled in my 20 years as an adult. when I was 20 a ‘good tip’ was 15%, now it’s considered an insult if you tip anything less than 20%, and a good tip is more like 30%

when you stack all that on top of the fact most restaurant prices have nearly doubled since covid, it’s insane.

a drip coffee and a bagel is like 10 bucks now, and you want me to tip 2-3 bucks on top of that? for… what exactly? pouring coffee for 5 seconds and throwing a bagel in a toaster?

either way I do still go out, but I refuse to tip for counter service unless my order was annoying.

if you are a tourist just tip 20% on any sit down dining.

i haven’t PC gamed in like 10 years. it’s just easier, more convenient, and comfortable to use a console. I have a PS5 and a Switch 2.

and i have no idea why this opinion basically brings out insane people who want to PM and comment at me about how stupid I am. That shit is so weird.

In my life experience PC gaming more expensive and comes with tons of extra headaches, that I was more tolerant of in my 20s but lost interest in dealing with in my 30s. The only games I ever play on PC anyway was like 4x games, since those aren’t available on console. I recently helped two of nephews build gaming PCs and it was… nothing but headaches and extra costs and they both ended up spending like 50% over budget, and then a year later were agonizing about upgrades they couldn’t afford.

I also have some games I’ve had on both console and PC, and generally found the console experience better, but I’m don’t care much about FPS or any of those things that PC gamers go on about. It just works and that’s what I want, to sit back on my couch and just chill. I don’t want to manage patches, driver versions, or have to edit startup configurations anymore or install custom mods just to get a game to load. spent way too many hours of my life doing that shit in the past.

My dog and I are exhausted after visiting multiple shelters to find a new kitty to adopt.

And angry at how invasive and demanding and rude the rescues are. You do not need access to my medical history, my employment records, and my previous addresses for the past 10 years. I am trying to adopt an animal, not applying to work at the FBI/CIA. No, you do not have the right to surprise visit my home to inspect it. We had to leave two places because of their absurd demands for application and the volunteers got aggressive when I asked why I had to give them all this info.

These people are INSANE. My previous cat and my dog, were adopted with a personal reference, a copy of my lease/mortgage, and a phone call to verify what I was looking for in a pet. That was it. It was so easy.
