  • (Disclaimer: I only have experience in monogamous relationships)

I’m sorry for your pain. First, have some internet hugs. 🫂

Unclear boundaries and expectations can lead to feelings getting hurt, as you’ve witnessed, without anyone being completely at fault. To a certain degree, those expectations and boundaries are malleable.

Be sure to be transparent about your feelings, your expectations and your boundaries with your partner. But in the process, try to avoid causing misunderstandings. “Just being transparent” can lead to the other person feeling attacked if they read incorrectly between the lines, you’d want to avoid that. For some couples, this is easier when done in writing (messaging), for others it’s easier when talking. You’ve got to figure out what works for you two.

Try to tell her that you don’t blame her, but that you struggle to navigate those feelings and that you seek her support. All three things are important! You shouldn’t need to handle those feelings alone, when you’re in a partnership. You can state how you feel, but you shouldn’t govern how she does. Ideally, you reject what can be done in both of your ends, to make each other comfortable, if not happy.

Maybe an open relationship is in the cards for you, if she communicates transparently enough for you (“at least let me know so I don’t get worried about you”)*. Or you want to know her partners. (Now: this might be surprising) or maybe you can look past it, but explicit prefer it to be maximally intransparent to you, so you don’t get triggered (“wherever you do, don’t let me know”). Or maybe if boundaries are set (e.g. “sex is one thing, but…”). Or you somehow manage to relax about it (check input from others on that one??). Maybe it’s not in the cards, and she’d have to adapt to monogamy for you to feel comfortable. You two don’t have to know the answer right now, you two can figure this out together, as a couple.

If this relationship is important enough for both of you, and if your expectations and boundaries are compatible, you can get this to work. If they’re incompatible, if you two want vastly different things from this relationship, if your relationship is set to fail long term, then there’s no magic bullet. Give couple’s therapy a consideration, personally I’ve had good experiences.

    * note: if you can, avoid demanding (too much) control over her. I’m not saying this describes you, but if you want to know what she does and where she is all the time, and who she is in contact with, you’ll easily raise red flags in your own.

  • You would still need to know what you’re looking for, whether that’s an ID (repo name / full IRL) or some (unspecified part of a) repo header. It’s surprising why someone of your skill level asks such an odd, unspecified question. Why do you being up a random idea and ask the community any that’s good or bad? Shouldn’t you offer some arguments as to why you think it’s good from the start, unless it obvious?

The only advantage I can think of would be to more easily find forks or even the same content on different hosts without having to know / verify possibly differing the repo names. But that brings is to the largest downside: security. Git hosters over namespaced repos with configurable access control. Your idea would be susceptible to impersonation, unless you being signing and some novel way to manage trust and verify signatures. Quite some hassle with little benefits 🤔

  • Sounds like you’ve already taken some great steps!

Of course you’re genuine being trans, you are you! You don’t need to stress yourself about “transitioning IRL” or outing yourself. Nobody forces you. Whatever you read/hear about other trans people is not a checklist for you, but inspiration, a mere suggestion. You should do what feels right for you, when it feels right for you. If outing yourself to coworkers or family doesn’t feel right (yet/ever), just don’t.

You don’t need to push yourself to bravery. At some point, the consequences of outing yourself might simply feel minor compared to the consequences of not doing so. You might say “I’ve been called a ‘he’ my whole life without feeling dysphoric, it can stay that way”; but with each dopamine kick of being called a girl also comes that graving when you’re not.

compare with [@Bryllyg](https://quokk.au/u/Bryllyg)'s comment in this thread

I lost family over it and I was kicked out of the house […] I will never look back and say that my transition was a mistake because I calculated those risks. (source)

She didn’t mean “hmm, I’m ready to take some risk” but rather “putting on a facade and not outing myself does more harm (to me) than accepting those risks and consequences”

If you think you’d like the benefits of HRT, you can start that before/without outing yourself. If people call you out in your grown chest, they might already be more susceptible to accepting you as a woman. Alternatively go “can we not talk about my body”.

Maybe we’ve all misunderstood your question and you meant to ask if presenting yourself as cis is not genuine? Hmm, well strictly speaking, at least to a certain degree: yes. But it’s not malicious, and it’s socially accepted.

    1. you can decide how you want to present yourself, and you can decide how you want to be addressed. You may decide differently in different contexts (this of not exclusive to gender fluidity buy also applies to closeted trans people). It is valid. Women can just be, they don’t need to wear dresses and yell out “in a woman” to be genuine.
    2. If being honest is putting yourself in danger of discrimination, you are allowed to be dishonest to the extend necessary to protect yourself. Let’s invoke what I call trans-privilege (or queer-privilege, or broadly anti-discrimination): Given the circumstances with society, discrimination, law, and the some culture around the act of outing oneself, you are not expected to be immediately transparent about queerness. You are given leeway to do that on your own terms, to decide the if, when and how. You are allowed to keep introducing yourself as cis with whatever pronouns. It is your right to decide on this, it is not malicious. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed anyone anywhere opposing this privilege/right, so take it for granted and don’t feel bad about it. Like, I don’t think even conservative idiots have a problem with lack of trans outing.

  • Well I initially wanted to write about how pornography that let’s you associating with another character take might help to avoid/reduce triggers, but I am honestly not knowledgeable about the subject of abuse. Maybe other enticing media helps. Besides well known porn videos, there’s also stories (ranging from romantic to explicit, from physical books to online fanfic to… interactive AI “assisted” writing), comics/manga, anime (pervert/suggestive is called “ecchi”, explicit is called “hentai”, if anyone reading this needed to know), heck maybe even drawn R34 pictures might help. Generally, I think society should grow a healthier relationship to pornography, but as I said, you made clear you’re not ignorant about that subject.
