Why? Is nefarious activity really occuring? It looks like from the linked article, small dev teams are more efficient. There is a scalability issue, governance, inclusion versus efficiency. I can understand in theory why they forked (and I’m switching to comaps), but has organic maps actually done anything bad? Can someone clarify? Is this nonsense what happened with maps.me?

The USA is analogous to the Soviet Union. Fake food, fake happiness, fake or poor quality everything- even beyond just goods and services. American speech is fake, the political class, intentionality, even well meaning people are fake. Nothing is meaningful with intention. Their democracy is fake, and so is their standing and success. All fake. Their clothes are cheap slop, everything is brand obsession but with zero substance, all marketing. Brand obsession might as well be considered a form of propaganda at this point, as the line between branding and political influence is blurry. They destroyed what semblance of country and community they once had.

I’ve an old OP7T, with 512gb. Only thing is security is no longer updated. Installing Linux is fun, sure, but security is lacking because the hardware vendors no longer updates the drivers. Meaning big security holes. At least this is my understanding, or the thing could act as cloud storage, or at least local storage.
Local storage is so abundant, and cloud so expensive. We will hopefully see more innovation to bridge the gap for non sys admins. I.e. no more rent extraction!

Or Graphene OS, second profile, VPN etc. But accept all chats, contacts, meta data or monitored. Sign up process using anon data is getting harder and harder, especially with phone number controls. The hard part isn’t going to be running it, in a secure enclave, but signing up with anon data.
