…why not just try either installing another distro like Debian to test it or reinstall Fedora.

I’ll be trying that last since while I did get most of my data off it thankfully (this was a real kick in the ass to get better about keeping backups!) I wasn’t able to get all of it and I would inevitably lose some of my settings. That said it will be my last resort.

Could the CMOS battery have died in your laptop, which has caused it to not detect the SSD?

I wouldn’t necessarily call a new ssd a cheap debugging step (for me anyways), but you raise a good point about putting it in an enclosure; I could use a new external drive anyways. That may be the first step I take.

One theory I heard was that it was a preemptive measure incase they’re forced to sell off (or split off or whatever) chrome due to potential antitrust issues they’re facing. This would then have some really fucky downstream effects regarding ChromeOS. Or maybe this is something to try to avoid the antitrust issue in the first place? I don’t really know and this is all second hand speculation.

My understanding is that not saving window size and placement is a limitation of Wayland right now (for security reasons that it’s trying to address rather than ignore like xorg I think?). I think it’s something that’s planned to be added eventually, but who knows when that might be. It is frustrating in the meantime I agree.

That’s not a strawman. You should review your knowledge of informal logical fallacies and be certain of their application before leveling accusations of them at people, even if you really disagree with them.

That pattern doesn’t really hold though. The third strong enemy becomes a sexy man. Seriously though, it’s not the greatest show ever made but it is better than 95% of the isekai trash out there and isn’t nearly as formulaic as you seem to think it is.
