Check out the videos of their lead tentacrul. He also did the Muse score redesign. As I understood, they are moving slowly as the codebase is a mess. First they cleaned up the toolbars, changed to non destructive clip editing then switching to qt improved it to the state it is now in. As I understood it, the audio engine is shit so they plan to rip it out and redo it. Midi support is a highly requested feature and I think it will definitely come, but only after everything that’s Audacity is used for is the best it can be. Then the DAW features will be build (they already include tempo, time signaturea etc)

Wenn es dir unangenehm ist daran erinnert zu werden ist das doch nur ein Zeichen das du lieber keine Tiere getötet haben möchtest oder?

Wäre es notwendig Tiere zu töten OK, aber es ist ja möglich sich vegan zu ernähren. Dann musst du dich auch nicht mehr schlecht fühlen.

I agree on the downsides, but of course an app is more convenient. You don’t have to load a browser and let it download and render everything. Especially when low bandwidth is a concern, a well made app can drastically decrease the amount of transfered data. Also apps are just more responsive.

I would even go so far as to say an open source app does less advertising and tracking than visiting a website of a company.

Don’t get me wrong I like an app if it’s a choice, but I hate being forced to have an app for every one time thing

Die feinen Details des Signal Protokolls kenne ich auch nicht. Der Punkt ist aber das der Nutzer alle Daten zum entschlüsseln haben muss und damit die App auch. Ohne Quellcode Einsicht weiß man nicht ob das Protokoll überhaupt richtig implemtiert ist, oder was mit meinen geheimen Keys passiert / den entschlüsselten Daten.

Falls ich einen private Key senden wollen würde ohne das jemand das mitkriegt würde ich natürlich den key verschlüsselt wegschicken.

Ich kann nicht beweisen das WhatsApp backdoors hat oder Daten absaugt, es ist halt nicht überprüfbar (soweit ich das sehe) und damit ein Trust me bro.

Selbst bei Signal bin ich mit den trusted execution environments skeptisch, da kommen wir dann zum Verlagern von Vertrauen zu Hardware Herstellern. Wo ich es auch nicht unplausibel finde das der schlüssel irgendwo rumschwirrt.

Deswegen ja Metadaten sind ein großes Thema und genau deshalb ist eine überprüfbare Implementierung vom Signal Protokoll und der Software die auf den Servern läuft so wichtig, beides bei WhatsApp schwierig.

Es könnte auch einfach der private Schlüssel an Meta gesendet werden. Danach sieht der Traffic gleich aus, aber auf den Servern von Meta wird dann nicht mit zero knowledge weitergeleitet, sondern auch entschlüsselt.

Plus mit eigenem Meta Key können die Nachrichten nach lokalem entschlüsseln wieder verschlüsselt an Meta gesendet werden, dann siehst du auch kein Klartext in den packets

No you’re missing the point. It’s a deliberate choice to not wear “normal” attire. He looks like he could have come from the front or is prepared for physical activity. Symbolizing his country isn’t safe right now. Sure it might be a bit of an act if you’re not in a warzone right now, but at least to me that puts the picture of him / his country being at war in my mind. The fact we are talking about it proves the signal is effective.
