I’ve run into that a couple times and it’s super frustrating because there’s 2 different types of “unlocked”, and they’re pretty much all carrier unlocked these days, where an AT&T SIM card will work in a Verizon branded device, but the Verizon ones for sure never allow OEM unlocking. If buying new from Google, I’ve always bought the “Unlocked” option. If buying used, I’ve given the seller instructions on how to check that the option is available. At least on Swappa, it’s been a pretty painless process.

IDK if you’re in the US, but anywhere I’ve lived in the US, induction is expensive and only offered in “premium” homes. Instead we either get crappy electric coils or gas. I’d love to have induction, but am stuck with coils. From a recent comment of mine:

I think cost is probably the main factor. It looks like prices on induction ranges are coming down, but still priced as premium/luxury compared to the electric coils. I looked up the cheapest of both at the local big box home improvement store, and the cheapest option overall is $509 and available for pickup today. The cheapest induction range is $899 and is showing a 7 day lead time.

A lot of people in the US are also really attached to gas, and would choose gas over induction anyway. The cheapest gas ranges are just a little more expensive ($549) than the electric coils.

How are we quantifying “most turds”? Would a single bowel movement count as multiple turds if they came out as separate pieces? Is there a minimum mass or volume to count as a single turd? What about bowel movements that are not solid?

Does installing Linux on an old Windows laptop count as upgrading? My current Jellyfin hardware is from 2013ish, and my “everything else” device is an old surplus ThinkPad that I acquired from my previous job a few years ago, both now running Mint.

Nope, only true in extreme cases. I was curious about that years ago, and while it might make you need to urinate more frequently, it doesn’t actually make you urinate more volume unless you consume way more caffeine than your body is used to. Now, alcohol on the other hand, anything over like 3-5% ABV does have a net dehydrating effect.

Eddy’s a bit more snuggly than usual, but I think it’s because he’s not feeling 100%. Sombra’s happy to be allowed back in his room now that the feral foster has departed. The big foster kittens (~3 months old) are having a blast, while the tiny ones (~10 days old) are fighting something, but seem to be pulling through.

I’m a millennial, and regularly talk to friends & family on the phone. There’s plenty of situations where I’d much rather talk on the phone than communicate via text.

I don’t generally think of myself as particularly creative, and by your definition (motivation to make art), I’m definitely not very creative. By your student’s definition (freedom to generate different ideas), I feel a little more creative.

I have to think about this for a bit, but based on previous discussions, I think I actually am reasonably creative, just not necessarily very artistic. My creativity tends to lean more… practical? I’m not sure.
