Global warming is anthropogenic and your consumerist behaviors have always driven these things. At any time we could have been like, what I have is enough for me, but we didn’t we bought the new iphones and the new jordans and every other dumb thing the billionaires sold us, when all we really needed was reliable food, shelter and clothing. Now we are buying their AI while having the audacity to be mad they are building the datacenters. Stop. We are the problem and we could have changed our behavior, but we didn’t. Now the earth is being ravaged for the lithium for your e-bike when a regular bike worked just fine (if you are disabled and need an e-bike you are excluded from this critique, because you aren’t forming the destructive trend I am talking about by using a mobility device), rare earths for your phones and computers and trees to build mansions nobody needs to live in, but everybody wants anyway. Our insatiable hunger for bullshit is why we are here in this climate catastrophe that will never get better, only worse. If we all keep clinging to shit like this to pass the buck onto just one or two humans we are actually just outsourcing our own power to said people. Take personal responsibility and collective responsibility and organize together and do better, or stop whining when somebody identifies humans as the parasites. It has nothing to do with colonialism or eugenics, because I will go further and say white people are the parasites… Whiteness is the disease and if you want to fix this shit, don’t whitewash yourself to fit into their disease of a culture. Why not get a lenovo for 1/4 the price and either install linux or buy one from them that ahips with linux… I always go on ebay, get a used thinkbook or some such device (dells have also been easy to put linux on), that way I’m not paying money for the windows license that I have no use for. It’s not that hard to put linux and it will have much easier compatibility with your other devices. Mac will lock you into the mac ecosystem and in a few weeks you’ll be back on here for iphone recommendations, because your macbook says fuck you to anything not apple related. Apple is a lifestyle brand. They want you running around with the apple watch and the iphone and this and that “smart,” device and there is just no room for your linux or android compatibility if you want to be in the mac club. It’s really just a cult.

I have been able to install ad blockers into Chromium, but I can remember if I had to change something somewhere. The point is, that it can be done… But overall I do agree that we Chromium is not fine overall. It needs to be forked to have full community control. FF has been forked a lot and I think that is the only reason we currently have functional browsers. Apparently this is a big problem, because you don’t see other much work in this area apart from servo, which would be great if it could get enough traction to be a full blown browser soon. Most corporate social media is already overrun with AI slop. Even Mastodon has too much slop for me. People don’t seem to mind as much as we do over here on the fediverse and even that is a gross generalization, because most people here don’t seem to mind it anywhere near as much as I do… They just are data center nimbys. So, my guess, to be honest, is people will just engage with it the same way they do with other content for 90% of people. Maybe 10% get disgusted and leave. The children pine for the crypto mines.

This looks really rad. I have been trying to build a leftist search engine using searxng and it has a lot of issue because of things getting blocked over tor due to the amount of background requests you have to be making to those sites. I have thought about building something like this to deal with that issue, but just had my hands full with other projects. Quite obviously (for those who like to come online to shit on really cool project people are building) the use case is people looking to build their own privately indexed search results without it having to get polluted by shit that comes up in other search engines. I feel like that was immediately apparent to me, because I have that use case and I immediately saw the utility here. For those who don’t get, just because it doesn’t fit the use case you have for internet related projects, doesn’t mean it’s not extremely useful to others. You literally don’t have to come on here just to shit on what other people are doing simply because, “you don’t get it.” This project looks really cool and I am going to look into replacing my searxng instance with this soon. I am super stoked that somebody has done this work. It has needed to be done for a long time. So thank you!
